Present Trunks is never implied to have a sword outside of Movie 13, GT and DBO. None of these likely have any bearing on Dragon Ball Super's continuity, so there is nothing to explain.

I also don't think Present Trunks has a sword in the main canon timeline. Wrath of the Dragon fits in the main canon timeline with pretty much no issues though. If the sword is never seen that Tapion gave him, or the events of Wrath of the Dragon are never referenced, then Wrath of the Dragon didn't happen in the main canon timeline and Present Trunks doesn't have the sword.

No. It didn't happen in manga, because it isn't in manga. Anything in anime is anime-only, as not only Toriyama doesn't know about it, even if he knows (presumably Bardock: Father of Goku), he simply doesn't care.

I also believe Tenshinhan has earned the right to learn Kaioken. He's been training almost non-stop all this time. Sadly, I don't see Goku teaching that to him. The only other way would be to go to Kaio's.

Tenshinhan is not important at this point. He won't get any power ups.

Nope, Wrath of the Dragon never happened in main canon timeline. Will never be referenced either. As for Tenshinhan, don't expect much. I expect him to show up, do something cool every once in a while, and then be gone again back to training like always.

I find all this information about the animation and number of sheets and what not very interesting. Can someone tell me who we know that is involved and what that means possibly for the series? I seem to remember someone mentioning that the director of the series has had some hand in action animation before? Are there any examples of prior work we can see that may give us an impression?

Also, how do the budgets of things like xenoverse or any other video game cut scenes stack up against a weekly series? To gauge animation quality. I don't expect too much from the animation but I am hopeful that it can have amazing episodes at least like DBZ did with he most important parts of the series.

Anyone who has anything else to say about animation do tell because I find it fascinating.

In an old thread about Cell/Buu being able to live forever, Herms mentioned that Toriyama wasn't involved in the story. After somebody tried to say Toriyama supervised the story Herms replied.

He didn't supervise GT's story.

From what I've always known Toriyama left it up to Toei, it was there project. He might've known what was going on but that was about it from what I've read.

Didn't he approve script for each episode though?

Herms commented just two posts after mine. Even if that were the case, i'm sure he was sick of DB at that point.

Who does everyone expect our main fighters to be? I'm going with Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Goten, and Trunks. Maybe Majin Boo as well, who knows. Toriyama loves Majin Boo. No need for Gohan to take part in fighting, he's done and retired. I want our human fighters to stay out of fights at this point rather than be in fights and get crushed.

Probably helps that he doesn't have to draw it every week or do any of the heavy lifting anymore, just has to lay out plot details and shit.

We need a good editor or things are going to get WILD.

Why would Toriyama need an editor? This isn't like a Toriyama is doing a weekly manga series again.

Cause people never edit scripts or anything. An editor would help keep consistency across the board, depending on how long this will go it may not be that needed but if this does go triple digit episode count, then yeah I'd say he needs an editor to keep things consistent and in check but also help keep things in check for when Toriyama isn't writing the episodes, specially if we have a third movie.

I'm actually expecting new characters to be introduced who are either on Goku and Vegeta's level or just below them, though yeah Goku and Vegeta are a must at this point, specially if this ties into ROF. I would actually love for the humans to be made relevant again cause I am tired of the super saiyan power hour, it's getting a little tired and bland at this point.

Super Saiyan Power Hour will never leave, it's here for eternity. The gap between Goku/Vegeta and the humans is just to big at this point. I think the gap could be closed somewhat between Goku/Vegeta and Piccolo though if Toriyama wants to do it. Majin Boo is also someone who could close the gap between Goku/Vegeta. I want to see Majin Boo become a main fighter in this new series.

I certainly remember reading somewhere that Toriyama got scripts for every episode of GT, and approved them. Maybe I remembered it wrong though =/

No, Piccolo isn't the super special exception to the rule. If anything he is a couple steps above the humans and nothing more. He isn't one power up away from closing the gap between him and Goku. We are at a very dangerous point where either something happens to boost the old crew up to be relevant in fights again or the dead weight gets cut off in favor of new characters who are closer to Goku and Vegeta. That or we have the very demeaning practice of the henchmen who are super weak compared to the main villain who only exist to be defeated by the old crew, which I would be highly against cause that demeans all of them. The only one who has a pray of closing that gap anytime soon is Buu.

Goku, Vegeta, at best Beerus as well, if Toriyama and Toei will be in a really good mood. But I won't hope for it much.

Yes in that they're far more powerful, no in that, rather than be left in the dust or ignored, they're being given things to do, enemies to fight. At least in FnF.

King Piccolo: Tenshinhan gets his ass kicked until ~GOKUU~ gets back with his super-duper GOD power-up! Goku effortlessly offs the henchman and engages with the Boss Man for a bit before he nearly gets blasted to smithereens and has to be rescued (Tenshinhan's air dance)!

Saiyan: Piccolo & friends get wrecked until ~GOKUU~ quite literally descends from the Heavens on a golden cloud with a new super-snazzy GOD-given power-up, only to get his bloated behind shown what's up by Mr. Elite so that, again, he has to be saved from near-certain death (Gohan & co.)!

Ginyu: Vegeta & co. get their butts served on a bloody platter until ~GOKUU~ sweeps in for the rescue with a super-special-awesome TRAINING power-up, before he loses to Cap'n Horny and has to be bailed out by the very people whom he came to save (Vegeta & co.)!

BoG: Vegeta & co. get their rear-ends roundly walloped until ~GOKUU~ comes on the scene and gets a super-sexy GOD power-up! He eventually loses, but is spared by Cat God Almighty for showing grit.

RoF: Gohan & co. get to flex their muscles and kick ass for a bit, until ~GOKUU~ and Vegeta come on the scene with a super-blue SUPER-GOD power-up! But the papa bears still fuck up bad and have yet again to be saved (Whis).

The Daizenshuu this time around covers the second half of the Dragon Ball anime. Come to think of it, apparently the TV series is going to continue for a little bit longer, as a brand-new story not present in the original. It seems well thought-out and promises to be interesting; or at least that’s what I gather from the rough scripts they’ve shown me, which give a broad outline of how it’ll be.

No, Piccolo isn't the super special exception to the rule. If anything he is a couple steps above the humans and nothing more. He isn't one power up away from closing the gap between him and Goku. We are at a very dangerous point where either something happens to boost the old crew up to be relevant in fights again or the dead weight gets cut off in favor of new characters who are closer to Goku and Vegeta. That or we have the very demeaning practice of the henchmen who are super weak compared to the main villain who only exist to be defeated by the old crew, which I would be highly against cause that demeans all of them. The only one who has a pray of closing that gap anytime soon is Buu.

No power up that Toriyama pulls out of his ass for the humans to get them closer to Goku/Vegeta would be believable in my opinion. The only believable way I ever see the human fighters getting stronger is if Bulma and Dr. Briefs turn them into Androids, which will never happen. Tenshinhan would never go through with it because of his pride. No amount of training that Tenshinhan does will ever bridge the gap between him and Goku/Vegeta. Kuririn/Yamucha are basically retired at this point and stay out of fights for the most part so they have no reason to want to become Androids. Piccolo was able to keep up with Goku/Vegeta for a little while even after they achieved the super saiyan transformation, the humans weren't keeping up with them even before they achieved the super saiyan transformation. I really do think the potential is there for Piccolo to bridge the gap and get on par with at least a Super Saiyan 3 if Toriyama made it make sense.

Goku&Vegeta without a doubt are going to be the big 2 of the story however I hope they give other characters a chance to shine such as Piccolo&Beerus.

And yet you believe Piccolo is perfectly capable of closing that gap with a power up? Again, he isn't the exception to the rule, he is merely a step or two above the humans. Any power up that would be unbelievable for the humans would also be unbelievable for Piccolo as well. We're more likely to see SSJG Gotenks then a Piccolo who can stand even with Goku again. The saiyans got out of control power ups that made the power gap way to big and almost impossible to bridge without a deus ex power up. This is again why I believe we're gonna get new characters to fill the fight roaster while the old guard is retired to moral support. Which I'd be ok with but it would still hurt a little to see that happen to them.

That's what the last few forms and power ups pretty much have been. People doubt it now cause it ain't official. Once it is it'll be widely accepted cause there's no other choice but to accept it and grow to like it I suppose.

It's not the thought of Piccolo getting a power up that bugs me, it's the bias thinking that it's perfectly logical and fine for him to catch up to Goku but it's apparently impossible for the humans too when they're at best a couple steps down from Piccolo who is a couple steps down from Trunks and Goten. Again, any power up that would be unbelievable for the humans would also be unbelievable for the Namekian. Hence why I don't care if we get an unbelievable thing that boosts the old guard back up to relevant fighting status!

The only reason Piccolo stopped getting stronger was because Toriyama stopped giving power ups to Piccolo. Everyone accepted the power ups that Toriyama gave Piccolo throughout DBZ. If Toriyama decided to give power ups to Piccolo again to make him useful in fights, most people would accept it just like they did before. I also never said that I ever expected Piccolo to catch up with Goku/Vegeta, because he never will. I think the potential is there though at the moment to give him some power ups throughout this new series to put him on par with them though. If Piccolo can be stronger than a Super Saiyan, then I don't see why he can't be as strong as a Super Saiyan 2, Super Saiyan 3, or even beyond that. Piccolo is also Toriyama's favorite character as well, so he has that going for him.

This already happened. Pretty much only Beerus, Goku and Vegeta matter now.
