The new cast
Kame-sennin: Joji Nakata
Where's my damn jar of salt?
Oh God that's hysterical!!
Joji Nakata - Nosferatu Alucard in Hellsing
Hellsing drawn by Kouta Hirano
Kamesennin... Hellsing...hmm... where have I seen this before?

And about the list as a whole, really couldn't be more fake, we already pretty much know Nozawa's back as Son since she did the narration in the commercial we got, and the Jump scan flat out said "The original cast led by Nozawa" and I do not see Nozawa's name on that list.

Yeah, I'm gonna need a Sodom-sized amount of salt to take with that list.

This should be good news.
Well, it's interesting.

I like a lot of the filler, so this won't be a replacement for the original series for me at all. But it's gonna be an interesting "alternate take".

But really, the driving episode and Gohan's High School episodes that deviate from the manga are just as much a part of Dragon Ball to me as the "accurate" bits. So....I'll probably stick with the original when watching Z.

But as a quick, refreshing run-through of the story, I suppose it'll work.

On the other hand...

MANGA FANS REJOICE!

I'll still miss the driving episode, though.

Oh come on now. You and I both know that there was HELL starting the minute the first Trailer was posted. Yes we had intelligent discussion, there always is. But that was in addition to "This is a fucking disgrace and people who like it are just ignorant Fanboys."...Obviously such comments stopped once people calmed down and cleared their heads. But it still happened.

An alternate take of an alternate take. Kinda funny when you think about it like that.

Eh, there's always going to be someone throwing a fit. My point was simply that, for the most part, the conversation at that point was about FUNimation tossing out $5 words like "overscan" that didn't make sense when actually examined. The real chaos didn't start until we had the final product in hand. And rightfully so.

In any case, it's not like Toei is billing this as "DragonBall Z, the way it was meant to be seen!" ;)

Even though it actually is, if it's a no-filler version. :P

But yeah I do hear what you're saying and I agree. I guess the lack of arguing for once felt odd.

Well, I won't make up my mind until I've actually seen it. We don't know if removing most of filler will make it better or worse. All indications seem to be that it'll be for the better. But we won't know until we're sitting there watching it.

I am a bit worried that some bits that I enjoy will be severely cut down. For instance, the Goku vs. Majin Vegeta fight which barely gets mention in the manga as I recall, was made into the epic badassery that it deserved in the anime. I pray they retain at least SOME of it.

About the music, I think it would be fantastic if Kenji Yamamoto remixed/arranged the original music from DBZ for Kai, similar to what he did with the music in the first Budokai game. A good amount of the music in Budokai was based on Kikuchi's original TV score, and the few songs that weren't are awesome pieces on their own!

Edit: Holy fuck the Namek Theme from Budokai OST is awesome. I need to purchase this.

I know I'll miss parts of that. Especially the little things like the face-slap and the ki-cuffs.

I daresay there will be filler elements of battles retained. Probably the parts that looked particularly nice, the Goku V Majin Vegeta fight being a great example of some superb animation.

I personally would just really like it if they kept the Z fighters charging energy at Cell during GohanVCell Kamehameha, but I seriously doubt it. :(

I'm curious however, as to whether the end of Dragonball Kai will be the same as Dragonball Z, or actually be reanimated to include the new ending Toriyama wrote and drew for his rerelease of the manga a couple of years back.

If they are only reducing DBZ to 100 episodes, there will still be scenes that wasn't in the manga. There will probably be certain attacks or character commentary still left.

People keep bringing up this 100 episodes thing, but isn't that technically an unconfirmed rumor? Or did I miss something?

Still a rumor. And we still have to remind people of that about every page or two.
