I thought it was stated that the completely made up attacks where being axed?

I know it would be impossible, but now that I've heard the former sing Kai's OP, I think I'd really like to see a short from TFS where Mr. Schemmel's Goku and MasakoX's Goku compete in singing skills against each other.

That would be amazing! Maybe we can get MasakoX to sing the dub version of Dragon Soul and put it up on YouTube. Maybe I can send a karaoke version of the tune his way after Kai hits DVD over here.

What I hope is that they are going to leave the incorrectly named attacks untranslated, and keep the already adequately translated names as-is.
Sooo, you like Makankosappo,

but you'd rather keep Spirit Bomb?

OH, AND LEST WE FORGET,

they better get FINAL FLASH right this time!! XP

True. They're more of a "shrieking harpy" quality.

I can see what he means. As I said previously, since watching Kai in Japanese, Nozawa's Goku is the only voice in the show that's cemented itself in my head as the voice for that character. It's not because of any sort of principle that Nozawa was the first so it's correct, or Goku is childish so his voice should reflect that, etc etc. It's just that it fits. It fits more perfectly than any other voice, in any dub I've heard.

Still, gotta give Schemmel a chance I suppose. I want to watch the show dubbed, since there's a few dub voices I prefer over the originals, so I'll be hearing him a lot anyway.

He's really good at singing too going by TFS's musical specials. I'd really look forward to hearing MasakoX's Goku's rendition of Dragon Soul. X3

Actually, add Popo to that as well. I love his voice in Kai. It's hilarious. I would love for him to have that kind of voice in the dub. A proper old toothless man voice, like he's chewing his own gums while he's talking.

It's gonna be weird, seeing as I'm going to much rather watch the dub of Kai due to all the improvements.

But the original Japanese version of Kai just seems like it's suffered some terrible setbacks.

Granted those same setbacks are mostly from footage and will be apparent in the dub, but the new english dialog will make it interesting.

If I wanna watch Z, Japanese no question.

If I wanna watch Kai... well now I've got a decision to make.

Not really. All it means is that you have a reason to watch Kai twice as much as Z.

...you refer to yourself in the third person (and by your screen name at that)? Wow. You'd better have one hell of a rack. ;p

On topic though, I'm intrigued though a bit "well, we've been here before." I'll give Kai a shot, but I expect nothing spectacular. I mean, it's Kai first of all (which is a bit of a turn-off in and of itself, in my book), and while they may be making a greater effort to dub it correctly...meh. Linda Young as Freeza. That about sums it up. I can never take that character seriously with that voice.

I've somewhat lost a bit of interest in Dragon Ball Z as of late but nonetheless I'll eventually check this out when it hits Funimation's video page.

I'm obviously interested in a new script for the show. More accuracy makes me a happy person. Original attack names are also a fine addition. I'm still having a hard time getting excited seeing as how Chris Sabat is still playing 3 main characters though. Somewhere in the thread Kirb was saying Chris is keeping some other extras because he as Penguintruth put it "climaxes doing them". I'm 90% sure this means mentally challenged Recoome is being kept. Call it a hunch. We also get good ol' marble mouth Kaio and Linda Young's Freeza back. This kind of thing is stopping me from giving two fucks. I really hope Chris Sabat gives up about 30 of his 40 odd something roles but this may be too much to ask for. With a VA pool as big as Funi's nowadays there really is no reason for some of these castings being kept. I'm really not trying to start another dub vs. sub war this is all obviously just my opinion.

So yeah color me unimpressed. I still have time to be pleasantly surprised though so I'm hoping for the best.

Thanks a lot for the videos.

Has anyone uploaded better versions, preferably ones that don't shake? xD

Well I guess we'll find out when the next new DBZ game after Raging Blast is announced.

Someone will surely upload the english dub to YouTube as it airs on Nicktoons :).

I prefer Spirit Bomb but meh, whatever.

Can anyone tell what Schemmel is singing? It was way too noisy, but I remember "Dokkan, dokkan, we're in love now. Don't stop, ....how."

I wish I had taken a video of it. I was in the front row. XD Though, it wouldn't sounded any better. :(

The Nicktoons cut is apparently going to different enough from the uncut version that we might as well not bother with it though.
