 That cover is beautiful we didn't get it in Australia but I would buy the game again for that cover. (not at full price)

I sure hope the PAL version does as it includes the Japanese audio for Budokai 1 HD. Superb alternative cover.

Edit: The Spanish PAL version doesn't have it, oh well, fingers crossed UK PAL does. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbj5-QQkKb0
It doesn't. T.T

So for the North American release one side has the European boxart for Budokai and Budokai 3, and the other side had the Japanese boxart for Budokai and Budokai 3. Weird.

I'm glad they skipped the American boxart though, Budokai 1 had a nice cover but Budokai 3's was completely terrible.

What the hell, what sense does it have to include the Japanese box art when the NTSC-U doesn't even feature the authentic Japanese voices for Budokai 1 HD.

I'll have to content myself with the standard cover. :|

So Pyramid did this HD Collection. Pyramid did the GC ports of Budokai, and Budokai 2 as well as some of the Data Carddass games. What's the excuse for the first Budokai being the PS2 version then? It's obviously not a popular nostalgia thing given this game's removal of all the music ...

So used to using a PS2 controller when playing Budokai 3. Also, I think the original music made it easier to concentrate too. So hard to play with an Xbox 360 controller and the music from the newer games. (I don't really like the music...) :?

Coding? Well, that doesn't make sense either because they still had to code for the 360. I guess building off the PS2 version was easier?
...Wait what are you doing? Are you still reading this? I finished what I had to say, why don't you move on to the next post?

Very likely the PS2 version is easier to port; Capcom used the PS2 version as the base for RE4 HD, which was on the 360 as well, if we recall (Stupid decision as that was, using the worst-looking console version for the 720p treatment). I don't know if that's what Namco gave them or if the Gamecube's different architecture was that big a deal.

Sony provides developers with a suite of tools to port their PS2 games to PS3. Nintendo, and Microsoft don't offer similar tools for their hardware. I guess that's the likely culprit. Port PS2 game to PS3, and then port PS3 to 360.

Does Budokai 3 HD look very lot similar to Burst Limit with those shiny high-definition graphics?

Close-ish to Burst Limit, but with a higher frame rate (60fps). And the cel-shading is still a bit jaggy.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

Rajman posted the 'US Budokai 3 HD Opening' and it's the original Budokai 3 OP song.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBB6_jY ... ture=g-u-u

What the hell's going on?

Budokai 1 HD US has 'Rock the Dragon' with the original DBZ OP1.

Looks like US is getting the better deal for these small advantages.

Does anyone own the North American version? I refuse to believe there are regional differences for an HD Collection released in two markets by the same company.

I think this confirms the replacement soundtrack but "Rock the Dragon" intro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9NWZI0gREw. I don't know about Budokai 3.

Well damn if they don't know their audience! Nostalgiafags rejoyce, I guess.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
The European and Australian edition got...a one-sided cover art...and Tag Vs music over the Budokai 3 intro. The North American edition got a reversible one with the japanese cover art...and the Budokai 3 intro, untouched.

Fuck. Didn't both Namco Bandai branches merge, or whatever? One would figure that it would be equal on both sides... Fuck.

Aren't PS3s not region locked? So can't the American version just be imported anyway?

The US version of Budokai 1 is english audio only, though.

Ah, right. Still, I prefer the English dub so I'll be importing if I can get confirmation that these aren't somehow region locked.

I guess I'm the only one who makes me feel bit odd when I see people having nostalgia for the Budokai games. I was like 11 when the first game came out and I never feel that nostalgic for it.
