Re: Listing for "Ocean Dub"-specific DBZ in July
To me, the subtitled version exists, so the fact that the script is 'butchered' doesn't bother me all that much. Tree of Might isn't, uh, high art anyway. It's Goku and Friends Punch a Bunch of Guys and Also Maybe a Tree. The reason I'd like it on DVD is because, obviously, the Pioneer version is officially released already anyway. This is one of the few things that doesn't have a release at all.Metalwario64 wrote:Though, I am more nostalgic for the TV version, and it would make me more likely to pick this up. Even though it has all of the previews, I can't see myself spending $60 when I only need to spend $15 to get the last few single DVDs I need.

We do not know this. Though, it does appear that Tree of Might is the TV broadcast dub based on the trailer.

Who knows, we might get both! It definitely does appear to be the edited "Tree of Might" version that appeared on TV in the trailer, but unless I'm mistaken, I don't believe the "Dead Zone" and "World's Strongest" movies were ever given an edited home video release.KingofWisdom wrote:We do not know this. A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Yeah. I guess we'll see if FUNi further clarifies things. If not, then the first person who gets it here can inform us of what's included.

What I'll probably do when I'm watching this is continue from 53 with Episode 31 of Z Kai since I don't own Z.

They weren't any. Though as I remember "World's Strongest" didn't have much edited out aside from Oolong's thinking of panties and cursing. (This was before CN changed their standards and allowed such words to be used in other movies).TheBlackPaladin wrote:Who knows, we might get both! Yeah, there were tv versions of those two movies, and their editing consisted mostly of snipping parts out. There wasn't anything in the way of redubs and such.

No, the proper thing is to follow up the end of 53 with the beginning of 1, and ejecting the disc as you curse Funimation.Fennekin wrote:What I'll probably do when I'm watching this is continue from 53 with Episode 31 of Z Kai since I don't own Z.
To really capture the nostalgic experience.

I found it annoying back in the day, you were hoping to see Goku vs the rest of the Ginyu squad and you get Raditz instead.TheWhiz wrote:I don't know why, but I found that really funny for some reasonpenguintruth wrote:No, the proper thing is to follow up the end of 53 with the beginning of 1, and ejecting the disc as you curse Funimation.Fennekin wrote:What I'll probably do when I'm watching this is continue from 53 with Episode 31 of Z Kai since I don't own Z.

So, the undubbed episodes will magically appear if I keep replaying 1-53 over and over again? xDDaimo-Rukiri wrote:I don't know why, but I found that really funny for some reasonpenguintruth wrote:No, the proper thing is to follow up the end of 53 with the beginning of 1, and ejecting the disc as you curse Funimation.Fennekin wrote:What I'll probably do when I'm watching this is continue from 53 with Episode 31 of Z Kai since I don't own Z.

In the latest ANNCast, FUNimation said it tried to get some of the old Toonami promos for the DVDs but couldn't due to the music belonging to other parties.

Some things can be like that. Too bad as some of those promos were pretty cool. Heck, remember my Outlaw Star dvds' extras for advertising Gundam Wing used the Toonami trailer.

I wonder if they tried to do the same for the Season Sets and ran into the same problem? I always wished they would have put old DVD trailers or something as bonuses on those and other releases, I like having all the trailers for stuff available on disc, but it's hard when they're scattered all over the place.Fennekin wrote:In the latest ANNCast, FUNimation said it tried to get some of the old Toonami promos for the DVDs but couldn't due to the music belonging to other parties.

Meh...Money is kinda rough for me right now so I think I'll just sit around and wait til we get a review of it up and everything before I dive into it.
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

If any of you guys are Corlett and Drummond fans, they're both on the new Pac-Man cartoon, so they're together again.
