Just had a thought, based on timing: If Pan has just been born in RoF plotline and Vegeta might be leaving for Universe 6 after that, he might be leaving Bulma behind, prompting some funny "I can't believe you are leaving me to deal with the pregnancy alone *again* Vegeta…." moments from Bulma with Bra.
I'm still hesitant that they forgot Bra is a character, but I'm cautiously optimistic since Super *is* pretty much the Vegebul show...

Vegeta missing the second pregnancy world be something else. XD Poor Bulma.
I'm also worried about Bra's existence. I hope they remember about her. There is so much gold to be mined from her and Vegeta's relationship; I've seen amazing fancomics about it.
Super does VegeBul amazingly well. I came into VegeBul relatively recently, but I've been having so much fun rooting for them; they steal the show in all the right ways.
We might have to make a campaign to remind Toei that Bra is a thing, or else they'll forget about it. Mr.Toriyama has 99% chance of not remember it. Before they flop around all over the place, with the series, we have to warn them to place a Bra!

Why does Bra matter? She'll just be overshadowed by the top 4 anyways. Poor Pan will be born in a big shadow.

Power levels establish tension and drama. People who care about them (well, people who care about them in a narrative) don't care about the big numbers or the fancy explosions. If you have character A who's so much above character B, who's the main character, you're gonna be left wondering how in the hell character B, the character we're supposed to care and root for, is going to escape the situation or overcome the odds. It makes us emotionally invested.
If character B doesn't escape the situation in a believable way that's consistent with previous events, then that emotional investment is gone. It was pointless tension, pointless drama made just to suck in the viewer. It has no critical value whatsoever. The audience is left believing that the author can just create whatever scenarios he wants and what happens to the characters is decided by whatever the author wants to happen, regardless of the events that happened in the story. Which, in fairness, is what happens, but the audience wants to be fooled. The audience wants to know that the world they're following has rules. That the world they're invested in isn't going to bend to external factors that are irrelevant to them.
An author can do whatever he wants with the characters, that's not false. But the author should also have the responsibility to make sure it fits in cohesively with the other events in the narrative he has created.
Bra can be the successor to Bulma! I'd love to see a child genius building stuff. Oh, and yeah, the Vegeta-Bra relationship. =D
But yeah, either her age will be retconned, or she's not going to exist.

That would mean making the cast way older...which they may not want to do. I'd be happy to have later years stuff...especially post EOZ, but I ain't holding my breath.

Because she is super cute? And Vegeta-Bra interactions have the potential for adorableness?
Not everything is about who is strongest.
I loved how the portrayed Kid Bulma in "Jaco". If Bra is anything like that, it will be worth it.
It's not even about being strongest. She'd barely get that much time to be anything other than padding til the next scene. I want a developing character, not a cute cutaway tool for Vegeta.

Well, she will be a baby at first, I'm ok with her just being a cutaway character/cuteness generator at first. She won't be old enough for a very long time to be more than that, but I'm ok with that -- neither will Pan. By that time, we will start to see some personality traits slowly emerge.
Character development is a slow process for background characters but it can happen. Even in EoZ, with the little we see of her, we see her as very outgoing and willing to cheer people on. She isn't shy and quiet the way Marron seems to be. I want to see more of that progression. and maybe someone will give her a raygun, too.
And I must say, Super has been good about fleshing out background characters. We have seen more of Marron and Chaotzu in 8 episodes than in 100 episodes of DBZ. Oolong did something noteworthy, and his old bickering with Puar is back. Trunks and Goten have gotten lots of "kids just being kids" moments that are endearing and illuminating of their personalities without being directly plot relevant. So that is why I'm excited.
irreality wrote:Ha! I'm sure people will now be wondering whether EoZ will be rewritten and Pan will be older. If only Bulma were a reliable narrator for the question of her age…
I think it is reasonable to think there were undisclosed time skips and this is just placed around BoG. Everything makes more sense from there.
There's not much leeway for timeskips after the "some time passes" afther the Boo wish, though. The whole "Beers destroying planets" lasts half a day.
That doesn't mean the Beerus stuff is happening at the same time as the other episodes -- that could just be a storytelling device to make sure we get some Beerus every episode.
Goku is clearly at Kaiou's for more than a day: Kaiou has rebuilt his house, and the grass has been destroyed and grown back at least once. Same with Vegeta's family: some time has passed for Bulma to get the idea of a birthday party, recuperate from her vacation and plan her birthday party. And Vegeta has been training for more than a day. And Goten had time to go shopping and get a matching shirt like Trunks.
Everything else happens the day of Bulma's Party. But it makes no sense for only half a day to pass since Episode 1.
Bra may not end up being a thing. Toriyama already has trouble remembering all the characters he has in his series, let alone giving them all screen time. I never really cared for Bra. She was just a brattier Bulma. Except Bulma was intelligent, created the Dragon Radar and could at least do something to help out. Bra did...pretty much nothing to help. I wouldn't mind if he forgot about Bra. It's difficult enough to try and make Goten and Trunks look relevant, let alone another newbie. Also, I never liked the naming for her. You'd think Bra would've been the name of Bulma's aunt. Given that Bulma's mothers name is almost certainly Pantie. That would've fit. You have Pantie and Bra as Bulma's mother and Aunt. Then we have Bulma (Bloomers) and Tights. Then you have the next gen with Trunks and the other daughter.
In my own little fanfic and in Xenoverse, I called Vegeta and Bulm's daughter Camisole. Or Cami for short.
cam·i·sole
ˈkaməˌsōl/
noun
noun: camisole; plural noun: camisoles
a woman's loose-fitting undergarment for the upper body, typically held up by shoulder straps and having decorative trimming.
For me, that fits well with the families clothing theme. And I would rather call a girl Cami or Cammy, than call her Bra.

Guys, I'm going to be straight with you. If you feel the show has gotten 'silly' ... it hasn't. You're just 'too old for this shit'. Seriously, 95% of the people in those boards do not fit the target demographic of the show, so don't expect the show to be 'everything you hoped for'. I'm referring to the people here who expect Super to be rich with dark moments, serious storytelling, meaningful characters etc etc. It won't. It's a show for kids. A show for kids being kids. Everyone in those boards has a manchild in him/her, clamoring to get out, and that's fine. But having unrealistic expectations (such as believing the show grew up alongside you) is naïve at best. Honestly, do you take seriously a story where the supposed God of Destruction halts his urges to blow up stuff in order to eat ice cream sundae? That's the show's silliness at full force, take it for what it is. The show hasn't matured one bit, so don't expect it too. Again, I'm not saying that's a bad thing. I'm saying *that* is DB and always will be.
Noah wrote:Well, If Toriyama ignores Bra existence as Super advances in timeline with Pan at age of 3 or something, than this series will be filler indeed
Or it'll be rewriting the story's ending.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

Vanishing Bra from the plot would definitely alter EoZ. She may not have done much in EoZ, but having her not exist calls into question the possibility of an EoZ replacement.
I don't care about EoZ, but I really like the concept of Vegeta and Bra hanging out, doing parent and child stuff. I don't wanna lose that.
Maybe Bra is adopted and just happens to look like Bulma. =D

For me Bra have way more potential than Pan in my opinion. She's a half Saiyan like Trunks and Gohan not a not a half-half Saiyan like Pan.
Vegeta could even train her and she could actually like to be in battles different of her GT counterpart.
