There's no way you're being serious right? "poop joke" is a figure of speech indicating that DB is supposed to be a fun, lighthearted series. You're not meant to take that literally.Drayenko wrote:Yes I am. "Poop joke" is very specific, and there's probably like 4 of those jokes in the whole series. Of course it is. I'm not trying to come off as a "Dragon Ball is hardcore bla bla bla." The 2008 special is extremely lighthearted and is the best thing that has been done the past few years, because that feels like what Dragon Ball is.FatNagger69 wrote:I said it's a part of the series. Has Vegeta ever been in the center of a big group shot like this staring off against the main villain and not been the main character at that particular time ?
And other then that if this was a Goku movie they would be doing A LOT more marketing with it which isn't the case now,if anything it's like they don't want people to know about it.

Anyway, is anyone excited about the prospect of hearing Chris Ayres voicing Freeza in the movie? He's such a perfect English Freeza. He's almost on par with Ryusei Nakao. I can't believe he voiced Freeza in Kai, let alone in this film. It definitely feels like I'm dreaming. With the improved cast in addition to Ayres, this may be the best Dragon Ball movie to date.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
"Not taking it seriously" is not the same as thinking the entire series is just a joke. I grew up with the show as well, and my opinion is that it shouldn't be taken too seriously. Fans should never take a show more seriously than the creator does, especially when the creator also made something like Dr. Slump and is known for forgetting things about his own series.Kakarot9001 wrote: We fans that grew up watching the series want more than fights and enemies with overwhelming powers coming from nowhere beating the crap out of our favorite characters, we want a good story, with great character development, with funny scenes but also serious and dark scenes too, that's the essence of Dragon Ball, pal it's not like cartoons you see in Nickelodeon that you just watch don't giving a shit for the story and rest, my opinion
It is a poop joke series. And if "poop joke" is too specific, then just replace it with "Toilet humor" or "Low Brow comedy".This is... just no.
Dragon Ball is not a poop joke series, I don't care if this website promotes that. That is not Dragon Ball.
And Toriyama can be whatever, but he's always been extremely consistent with power levels, so yeah. Powers levels do matter, even if they don't to some people. They ARE part of the series and you can't take that away.
It has serious moments, but that doesn't mean it's origins, and a big part of it's continued run, wasn't comedy.Sure, and Krillin dying for the first time is part of Dragon Ball too. It that's a joke, cool then.
Those are interesting, but I've seen people getting legitimately angry looking for some sort of In-Universe reason while there may not be one other than "Hey, Freeza's got this huge latent strength that can come out when he decides to seriously train." And I understand if that's not satisfying but...idk, it's just whatever. In reality, they probably just BS'd a reason to bring Freeza back. I imagine that the whole point of this movie is to have a popular villain come back and face our heroes again. The reasons how and why just aren't that important to me. I'm just here to watch the fights/interactions.Freeza having a body in Hell and the fact that he can jump from initial Super Saiyan tier to beyond Super Saiyan Vegetto tier in 4 months are very interesting subjects.
That's really not the same comparison. DB is a "Poop Joke" series because it features jokes about poop. It doesn't feature Satanism or any Satanic beliefs (that I know of), and Mr. Satan isn't even really Satan. It's just his name.I'm just trying to say that you can't define it under "poop joke." That's like if I were to say Dragon Ball is a Satanist series because there is this guy that's called Mr. Satan, therefore it promotes the devil.
That's basically what I'm getting at, thank you.I think you guys are overreacting and taking Big Momma's comment out of context. Pretty sure he was meaning that the series is absurd and simple at its core, and isn't meant to be the subject of such intense scrutiny and absolutely unchanging, consistent algorithmic rules.

Okay, I think I get were you're coming from. DB is not completely a slap stick "poop" comedy (like Dr. Slump) but can still be lighthearted in nature. But from reading your replies, it seemed like you were saying DB is serious business.Drayenko wrote:Yes I am. I still believe you're taking it too serious though, (I got the impression that you think power levels matters. Correct me if I'm wrong).

Also; wandering CDJapan and found this (link is to Amazon because they have audio samples) : http://www.amazon.com/Horikawa-Ryo-No-A ... B00P22G230
Apparently Horikawa put out a mini-album last November of him covering anime theme songs. I now want Vegeta to have a character song in this movie somehow. :3
(Bingo was fun and awkward, but not something he could really belt out. I'm thinking more along the "Cooking Hell" song's lines.)
Re: Gokû movie
This is also why I'm leaning towards this being The Vegeta Movie.
If this comes true; I feel like it'll be way easier for Funi to market in the U.S. I feel like Vegeta's way more popular in the U.S. than Gokû.

What's so special about chris ayers? I've seen Kai in english, and didn't think much of him as Freeza.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
I do think they matter. Not the NUMBERS as in Battle Power readings from scouters, but they matter as in making sense and having a progression throughout the series that "makes sense."
I hope I'm making myself clear...

So you're saying "power levels" in terms of how strong a character is against another, or compared to how he/she was compared to where they started in the series. And not arbitrary numbers. I can understand that.Drayenko wrote:I do think they matter. He sounds somewhat similar to Nakao, and helped give Freeza his first accurate portrayal in English.Retan wrote:What's so special about chris ayers? I've seen Kai in english, and didn't think much of him as Freeza.

I understand what you're saying. I dunno, I personally don't have any trouble understanding the progression of strength without using Power Levels. Eh well.I do think they matter. I can't wait to see more from the manga adaptation, and get a few clarifications on the story from Kanzenshuu.
I wonder if Freeza will have any new techniques, or interesting surprises in store for our heroes.
I'm still half expecting Freeza to use a sword on Trunks if he sees him.
And I really can't wait to hear his voice in the dub of the movie (I saw Battle of Gods in theaters *I waited for the official release in the US*, and I'm going to see this in theaters when it comes out).

Wonderful acting, a very fitting voice (and a script with great dialogue certainly helps). He's about as good as we could hope for an English Freeza.Retan wrote:What's so special about chris ayers? I've seen Kai in english, and didn't think much of him as Freeza.

Eer... Should we consider this manga made by Toyotaro? I kind of feel that a lot of people are actually bringing it to the "canon zone" based on how serious they are taken it. But that might be just me having a wrong view of it.Mewzard wrote:I can't wait to see more from the manga adaptation, and get a few clarifications on the story from Kanzenshuu.
