Like Kiyohiko Azuma? If you've read Azumanga Daioh or Yotsuba&!, you'll never believe they were from the same guy who started as a hentai manga artist.

(Side Note: The Wiki says Kiyohiko Azuma made a Dragon Ball dojinshi!)
I was thinking more of CLAMP and Rumiko Takahashi (though I don't know if she actually did fancomics or just self published works).

I think I've read somewhere once that Azuma drew some doujinshi, but I had no idea they were hentai. This was a surprise. Also that he did on for DB.

She's dangerously insane if she thinks DBM's story is good. They should be glad they didn't get shanked.

Pretty much.
Doujinshi still go against Japanese copyright, however, and doujinshi creators can and have been sued before, but it's rare. But for the most part, doujinshi are ignored as it's understood they really don't make much money, a lot of times barely making up for the printing costs.
That, and as you stated, it’s a good way for rising manga artists to get noticed.

The Yotsuba guy was a hentai artist? Didn't know that before.

Yeah, doujin are illegal to sell, but most of the time, the copyright holders don't care. Especially since they barely make any money anyway. I'd be complaining about sales too, imagine you print a hundred copies of your first book, and it costs you three hundred dollars. You decide to sell each book for seven dollars. You only sell twelve books. That totals to eighty-four dollars, not even close to covering your printing costs.

Either way, they're still running a small business.

And here we have one example of why I frown upon the cell phone/ipod/ipad/ifridge/itoilet era.
Usually goes by "Kevtrev" elsewhere online.
Draws comics that may or may not have been blatantly inspired by Akira Toriyama's manga.

Eh, I still purchase paper copies over electronic versions so every new ipad that comes out only gets a shrug from me. Infact yesterday I order a manga vol. from Amazon.

I guess we will see the fight between Gast and Vegeta very soon. Vegeta is likely going to lose but I can't wait to see what happen nexts nevertheless.

Seems like a much better plot so far compared to the crappy ones before.
My favourite art style (and animation) outside Toriyama who worked on Dragon Ball: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Masaki Satō, Minoru Maeda, Takeo Ide, Hisashi Eguchi, Katsumi Aoshima, Tomekichi Takeuchi, Masahiro Shimanuki, Kazuya Hisada

Besides that, the translations seems to have improved a lot.

Oh Vegeta, I suggest you leave the planet right now. Unless you want your head ripped off.

Let's just recap the top tier fighters from all the hints they've dropped so far:

Cell
ZenBuu
Vegetto
Gast
Bra
Broly

Possible top tiers that we haven't seen completely cut loose yet:
Gohan
Goku
Piccolo Daimo
Bojack (This Bojack's been ruling the universe for a while)
Cold (Salagir has dropped hints that he's tougher than everyone expected)
South Kai (He'll probably get beaten as a Worf/Vegeta effect, but still up there)

Wild cards:
Raichi
Tapion
Bardock
Vegeta (no way he's not going to get some heavy battle screentime soon, probably SSj3)

If the followers of Freeza who destroyed the spaceship of the earthlings could detect Kuririn and Gohan signals, shouldn't Vegeta too?

I think Freeza and his followers are dead thanks to Gast.

Vegeta's assuming his scouter is reading Freeza...
