Arabic DB DVD "Fire Red" Boxset Review

Who enjoyed my "Black Brick" review?

Well, Folks, it's time now for a review of Dragon Ball DVD Boxset, or as I like to call: "Fire Red Brick". I had this for maybe a week, but didn't bother to review it...

Packaging

I'll start with the box it self... first thing to notice? WRONG characters in the WRONG places...!! Trunks, Yajirobe, Tenshinhan and Adult Goku? characters didn't appear in the first 52 episodes of Dragon Ball... Yamcha and Ran Fuan in the front lines while Goku and Bulma on the sidelines?

Appearently... the company doesn't know what they are releasing... but hey, at least they are not big green or that badly drew like the Black Brick...!!

The DVDs are packed the same method as the Black Brick. As well as the number of episodes each disc have.

DVD 1:
-Disc 01: 01-05
-Disc 02: 06-10
-Disc 03: 11-15

DVD 2:
-Disc 04: 16-20
-Disc 05: 21-25
-Disc 06: 26-30

DVD 3:
-Disc 07: 31-35
-Disc 08: 36-40
-Disc 09: 41-44

DVD 4:
-Disc 10: 45-48
-Disc 11: 49-52

Menus

You'll propably like it... each disc got a menu that is different between each of them!!

There is not realy a main menu... instead, they skip right to episode selecting, or play them all like the marathon run.

The menus plays a clip from Goku's escape from Princess Snake... *WHAT?!* And they all have the typo.

The best part of every DVD review... Screencaps, and comparing between them with FUNimations

Ok, the colors arn't that good... but did you see the REAL difference between the Arabic and FUNimation's? No? take another look, or look at the image below...

Did you finally notice? THE ARABIC VERSION DISPLAYS MORE FOOTAGE THAN FUNIMATION'S!!

Hohohoho.... a thing gives the Arabic version a point over FUNimation...

But it's the censored version... yeaaaaay *sarcistic*

I want to share a funny yet interesting edit the Arabic dub made...

What they did is... In this scene, they replaced the American flag with the correct pattern that was supposed to be used. How did Goku find Murasaki if he was using the correct patteren this time? "His feet are visible!!"
Why this edit? Because America is BAD and EEEEEEVILLLLLLLLL MOAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA

The audio is kinda faulty in the first disc ((The episode's audio works only for the right headphone)) but it's dual in the rest, and it's really good like a real DVD quality product despite it's being plain Mono.

So..... Is this worth the purchase? I can say that if you are a fan of the Japanese uncensored version, don't bother buy it. Because you won't enjoy it ever... But, if you are a collecter of Dragon Ball dubs from all over the world and do not care of them being censored with stupid rewrites, it's a good choice. Good, but not perfect.

Arab is wierd with there dvd sets. I love how they show more footage though. FUNI should take notes.

I like how random the box art is. Yeah, let's include Trunks even though he won't be introduced for another 200 episodes or 13 years of story. And then there's Yajirobe in his dramatic, brooding pose. Surely such a character plays a pivotal role in the proceedings?

... nope, he actually doesn't show up at all.

And I like your "WHO THE #%@& PUT ME THERE?!" picture, of course. XD Trunks' time machine is buggy.

It's cool that the Arabic version has a bit more footage, though that perks pale a bit when considering the fact that this version also introduces what seems like a green mist that's enveloping the world.

My Goodness! What is up with those?

I am wondering why they constantly portray Tienshinhan with ears even bigger than those of Piccolo.

I know Goku is supposed to have a silly face but this is pushing it.

I always enjoy reading these. I'm not patriotic at all but I am somewhat offended that they removed the American flag. It was just sitting there.Then I remembered 4kids removing every single Japanese symbol in every show they ever dubbed and I suddenly learned to sympathize.

The picture quality is awful, I'd rather have decent looking colors then more footage. Are there anymore real notable censors?

Anyway, I think it's pretty gay that the sides for each of the four individual DVD boxes are the exact same.

Hey SHINOBI-03, do you actually like these sets? It's OK if you do, Iam just curious...

I don't think I could watch something that long with a green\yellow tint to it.
