I’ve always wondered when Dragon Ball Z (or Dragon Ball Volume 16 and above) came out as a manga in Japan. All I know that the first DB was released in 1984.

Well, the DragonBall Z anime came out in August or September of 1989 so....I wouldn't know.
My greatest estimate would be 1987 or 88. I think when the anime comes out, it is released a year or two after the manga.
