Who should sing the English version of "Dragon Soul" next?

Post by TheBlackPaladin » Thu Sep 09, 2010 3:08 pm

As many of you now know, Sean Schemmel's version of "Dragon Soul" has been replaced in the latest DVD/Blu-Ray box set release by another version sung by Justin Cook. FUNimation confirmed via their twitter account, though, that apparently each box set will have a different singer singing the opening theme:

I for one think this is pretty cool. I can understand how some people may find this confusing or frustrating, but I think it's cool that we'll be exposed to such a wide variety of different interpretations of the song. It'll never really get old that way. Plus, it's "Dragon Soul"...it doesn't hold the special place in my heart that Chala Head Chala does, so I'm okay if a couple different versions get released.

So let me ask, who do you guys think should sing it for the next box set? My vote's for Chris Sabat, personally. I like his singing voice.

I want a girl to sing it next, maybe Colleen Clinkenbeard.

They could always pull a We Are and have the entire main cast sing.

"Performed by Sean Schemmel, Sonny Strait, Colleen Clinkenbeard, Christoper Robin Sabat, Christopher R. Sabat, Christopher Sabat, Chris Sabat, Sabat, and Monica Rial!!"

Hey, we only need 3 Chris Sabat's! (Vegeta, Piccolo, Yamucha).
Then John B. (Don't feel like looking up his whole name) who plays Tenshinhan.

I'd like to hear Chris Sabat sing "Dragon Soul" myself. As for other voice actors, what about Eric Vale? I'm sure he could sing.

Jimi Tunnel needs to sing Dragon Soul. He's the guy who sang Makafushigi Adventure!.

I'd like Chris Sabat to sing it next or Vic Mignogna to finally do a full 1:25 version.

Oh my. My ears hurt after that one. But I do also think a female should be the next one to sing it. Maybe whoever did "Midnight Sun" in Tenchi Muyo! GXP.

I do too. His singing was by far the best in that video.

Justin Cook's version (the one off Kai part 2) just has no enthusiasm. Sean's might not have been the best singing ever, but he sounded like he cared about the song and did his best. Justin's just seems like he went in the booth did one take and called it a day.

If anyone has a karaoke version of the song, I wouldn't mind doing a take, I am actually a singer.
