Real life scouter technology?

Has there/is there anything actuall in use that would be close to the scouters from the show? [asthetically]

I could have sworn I have seen a Blue tooth/ear piece type of thing that you put on your ear and a tiny screen went over your eye [not quite as close] but you would be able to read from it and look through it.

I know 'reading power levels' wouldn't really do anything but I could think of a thousand and one real world uses for a scouter type blue tooth. I sincerely hope someone is in a lab working on that. If we can have see-through laptops and wireless internet and tiny screens on things already, I dont see why they wouldn't be able to combine all of those together.

Well, there is technology already in existence that looks similar to a Scouter and projects an image into the eye that, from the wearer's point of view, would look like a screen.

Combine that with a certain Masters Thesis, titled "Scouter," where the wearer has glasses attached to a mini computer that are loaded with facial recognition software.

Finally, there are many websites online that keep track of Kickboxers, Mixed Martial Artists, and other combat athletes (both amateur and professional) so you can find out their fight statistics. If you combine facial recognition software with the one-lens display, you could bring up fighter data on the go and maybe have the computer compare the statistics to figure out who would be more likely to win in a match between the two. It would basically be the same as looking up stats online and deciding who is better based on who has better stats, but it would be done automatically and through facial recognition.

For comparing between different sports, you couldn't necessarily decide who is better, but you might be able to find who is better at a certain aspect. For example, a Kickboxer and a Jiujitsu competitor couldn't be compared well, but either of those two could be compared with an MMA guy in the sense that you can compare strike or takedown percentages to see who lands their techniques more often.

I've heard talk of computers in lens-like things for a while, but it's always been "Oh, they're working on it..." type deals with nothing specific.

... I like playing with things that measure electrical current in one's body. It's to the point that, whenever my family visits the MidAmerica Science Museum, we all have to "see what [our] power level is". Most people hardly break 10, mid twenties for more active people. My dad was in the thirties, and the younger of the two cousins that live with us has consistently topped all of us without effort (when he was four, he just touched it and reached forty).
... We wound up trying to manipulate it all DBZ-like, and I and he both managed to hit the mid-upper forties... but it took me a lot more effort.
So clearly, I'm Piccolo, and he's Gohan.

Yeah, all you here is "we are working on it" and rumors and such, which isn't helpful at all. It's like concept cars at a car show or something...if you not going to MAKE the car, don't waste time in imagination land, so get to work on some scouters.

Just imagine a blue tooth scouter where you can see your texts and email right there on the little screen over your eye. 0:)

Considering how bioelectricity is linked to Chi in modern theory (see my latest Sparking Turtle post) I'd like to know what this machine is called. I want to look into it.

I'm not sure what it was called (my dad would probably know... I suppose I'll try to ask him this weekend...), but I don't think it's anything amazingly advanced so much as the sort of thing that wouldn't see enough everyday use to get much exposure.

The museum frequently does shows in which they get kids from the audience to touch a (harmless) electrical source, then direct the electricity out their hands to do things like power a lightbulb and spin a needle by pointing at them. (And there's a lot of hair standing up as well. XD )

(They also use a tessla coil to shoot a crap-ton of electricity into a cage. It's very loud. -_-. I don't remember the range on that, but I think it was dangerous for well over a mile if it misses...)

It might just be a funny-looking multimeter for all I know. I just wanted to know if it was anything other than a multimeter.

It could be.
It's in the form of two (metal?) panels on a table-like thing, with a display somewhere nearby. You place a hand on each panel to get a reading.
