Will you ever stop liking DBZ?

Post by skatezeppelin » Wed Feb 23, 2005 12:55 am

Sorry for the stupid topic i was just curious if fellow dbz fans feel the same way i do about dbz. I personally will never stop liking dbz because it helped when i was younger with my parents divorce, and i still love it with no comparison. Also I see that all around me people are stopping to like dbz. I literally know no people in my life who still like dbz. All i request is that you guys keep your love of DBZ going on forever!!!

P.S. Sorry this is kinda cheesy for my first post put i wanna get my feelings out.
I wanted a mission, and for my sins, they gave me one.

No...I don't think I'll stop liking Dragon Ball. I have before and probably will lose interest in the series, but it still brings back memories, and the art and story are great in my opinion.

I would recommend brushing up on your grammar there. I'm not saying it's bad, but it can use some improving. So anyways...ugh, welcome to the forum?

Everything big always seems to go completely out of style for a little while after it stops being "all the rage". Remember those years when it became uncool and kiddy to admit liking your ninja turtles and cartoons? I think people will eventually get over the backlash. I guess it's just a case of the series getting a little too much over-exposure.

Well, I don't just start randomly thinking about DBZ in the middle of my day like I possibly used to. It's a good show and manga but when I start thinking of something Japanese I want to watch or read, it usually isn't DBZ. I like it all, but it isn't on the top of my mind like it used to.

I think people online really just overexaggerate the DBZ backlash hate. Everyone's always taking the extreme position on issues when it comes to chatting about them online.

Well I will always love the dragonball series. It was the first anime I got into and brings back many awesome memories. Its a great tale and adventure which still makes me feel the same way it did back in the "beginning". The problem with people is that now the phase has dyed down their like for the series dies with it and say how the storyline is crap yet its the same storyline that made these people like the series. The irony annoys the hell out of me.

That's pretty much how I feel. I probably won't watch DBZ anymore, unless un-cut DVDs make it to the UK but I will always read the manga, watch whatever movies I can get my hands on and play any decent game. DBZ helped me get interested in anime and manga.

I agree. I do realise that DBZ is by no means a perfect anime, and some people give it far to much hype, but the attitude of some of the anti-DBZ people is just as bad IMO.

Nope I will never stop loving it. It was my "gateway drug" into anime. I even still plan on buying all the movies on dvd to eventually replace all my fansubs.

People can bash me all they want for liking it. I could really care less.

DB defined a generation of children and touched every generation. Even those manga today which succeed DB's popularity, flair and style have come nowhere near reaching across the ages like DB did.

Dragon Ball is a masterpiece and a cornerstone of Japanese society that helped pump new blood into manga culture.

I'll never stop liking it.

Lots of things like that happen mainly because of the eay the media portrays something that is "all the rage". For me, I'll always like DB/DBZ (don't care about GT). And my cousins who I introduced the show to will always have me to thank for that.

I've loved it for 8 years, back when they just showed Dragonball (Boy I miss those days of waking up at 7 AM on Saturdays just to watch it) and my fandom's gotten bigger, so no way will I stop liking it anytime soon, no matter how much people bug me about it.

Been watching it since I was 9. I turn 21 next month. Don't think I'll ever stop.

Since my first exposure was to the Japanese version, I'm one of the "anti-dub" peoples, although I'm not as vocal about it as I used to be. It's over, people are forgetting about it, and it's no longer an issue. I have my wonderfully subtitled DVDs to make me happy.

I still get all tingly when I hear the first few notes to "Cha-La Head-Cha-La" and I see that "Z" wrap around the ball.

I only started liking it two years ago, i'm 18 now. I first watched it after a long time of making fun of my friend for watching it, because everone else made fun of it and i was being a bandwagoning tosser. =P But when i sat down to watch it, i loved it like hell. I seriously cant see myself stopping liking it.

The dub nearly put me off DBZ, but thank goodness the manga kept me in there. =D And now that I have some subbed DB I'm back into it in top gear. XD [voice=high pitch]Kamehameha![/voice]

Despite being 24 and having seen dozens upon dozens over other anime series, Dragonball Z has remained my favorite over the last 9 years. I have no idea why that is. Something about the show is just very endearing to me.

I will never stop loving Dragonball. I've seen many other animes, other manga, other comics, other animations, and other television shows, and it remains my favorite in all of the above.

The movies are tripe, though.

You see all this feedback, and this guy thought everyone would bash him and ignore the topic.

Err-DBZ has my favorite creed of people as fans. Normal people. DragonBall Z has to have the largest number of non-anime fans as fans. As stated before it's like a gateway drug to the anime world. Many of ma nigs watch DragonBall Z and you would never tell that they were becoming anime junkies by looking at them. The Budokai games help the fandom too.

DBZ is and will always be in my interest as well as a lot of other people.

I've loved it ever since I saw the 80's dub. My interest has waned from time to time, but I don't think I'll ever stop liking it permanently.
