Did Vegeta turn into stone?
I looked down 4 pages and didn't see this question I am asking, but if there is a topic for this, please point it my way. Now to the question at hand, during Vegeta's final attack on Fat Buu you see at the end Vegeta appears to be in stone. Did Buu someshow copy Dabura's power and somehow spat and Vegeta turned into stone somehow, or was Vegeta's stoneish appearence due to something else?

Err... I think it was mostly just metaphorical imagery, not to be read into. As in, he gave so much of himself into that attack for the love of his family and friends, all he left behind was just an empty shell.theendgamelv3 wrote:I looked down 4 pages and didn't see this question I am asking, but if there is a topic for this, please point it my way. I am going to have to take a diffrent view, although I do agree with what EX is saying as well. I believe what we see of Vegeta left in that scene is not stone (though it looks like it) but ash. Because it does not break like a stone it sort of erodes itself into the air, and this makes plenty of sense if you think about it. How do you get ashes? You incenerate the matter of something. Well, Vegeta's attack was certainly an incenerator, and it went full out. He drained ALL of his power out and in doing so I believe he just didnt even bother protecting himself from his own blast. This is why its not the "normal type of fighting" that Vegeta mentions of it.
So how does it keep form for a while before falling? I think some of Vegeta's Ki was still present, at a very minimal level, sort of like how in death there are still involunary reflexes shortly therafter. Therefore I believe the Ki holding his form together was just the last ghasp of reflexive action his body/spirit had left before passing on, and as we know that did not last. It soon fell and it did no crack or make stone sounds of being broken it just seperated into formations, and eroded into the air.
Its also possible that Toriyama-sensei was trying to evoke the idea of "ashes to ashes, dust to dust" - but I wouldn't put too much stock into that, just a possiblity.

Actually I did notice this and thought at first that he did become stone. But then I realized it must have just been that the combination of draining all his ki and being at the center of the explosion gave him that pale color.
As for his body not falling immediately after the explosion, I think he either fell right away, but the frames showed it in slow motion to add to the drama, or it just stayed suspended for a bit because of the shock and force of the blast. Laserkid's explanation also makes sense, so I guess it's up to the reader.
