What reignited your interest in the series?
I'm sure the majority of us here went through a break of Dragon Ball, probably because it stopped airing, or for any other reason.
I'm curious to see what reignited some people's interest in the series.
Me, it was Tenkaichi 3 on the Wii. I was at EBGames and it caught my eye, I checked it out and saw that it had Wi-Fi. I remembered how much I loved Budokai and how much I wished to play it online, so I made my decision to buy it. Anybody who owned the game knows that the online was absolute garbage and unplayable, but I didn't regret the decision at all. Looking through all my old favorite characters, and even some new ones that I didn't quite remember really got me back into the series.

Simply watching it again. Especially DB.
It really is a good series despite all its flaws.

Re: What reignited your interest in the series?
Each new release (except for Kai) reignited my interest in the series. I gave up on collecting the whole thing after Z ended. Then the Ultimate Uncut stuff started airing and it was cool seeing new releases for it, even though I didn't really watch it on TV. Then it fizzled out again until the "Season Sets" came out and I saw it in a store and just had to have it. And of course that reignited my interest in collecting the original singles because of how extinct they were becoming. Then of course... Dragon Boxes.

The FIGURES! Also finding a community where I can interact and share my lvoe of figures with people like myself perpetuated my re-ignition into DB. The burning love for it is going to fade soon as new figure releases drop due to Kai ending (?), but I'm sure I'll keep a level of interest with the series for a long time to come.

Poland Club on myanimelist.net.
I noticed in anime relations that they listed DBZ "USA version". I was a bit surprised, because back then Polish TV stations got licences mostly via Italy or France. I started to check what's going on (and emailed creators to change the record). Since I like all the anime history issues I wanted to check what and why is different, that make me re-watch whole series and finding Daizex. I don't remember what I was looking for, but I found Herm's guide and stayed for a bit longer.

Seconded. It probably ended up making me a bigger fan than I would have been otherwise, which is ultimately fine given that I have multiple IRL friends who are fans and haven't killed my room with merchandise.CODii wrote:Daizenshuu EX did it for me.

Herms,Hujo and Kanzentai. Things like the personal pronoun guide,Daizenshuu translations and little things like the air dates of the movies and specials are really interesting to me. Learning all these details are fascinating and I always check up on the Daizex forums and Kanzentai for more.
(I like Daizex too! Though after all these years I kinda read over every article here a few dozen times.

Re: What reignited your interest in the series?
Even though my interest in the series would re-ignite every few years by watching the series, I would say that Daizenshuu EX has kept my interest in the series much longer than usual. By now I probably would have taken a break from Dragon Ball and only be watching Kai as it aired, but this site has really kept me more in-tune with the news etc.
Re: What reignited your interest in the series?
The season sets. I only got Season 1 to complete the Saiyan saga, but then wound up getting the whole show. My interest was pretty much dead before that, though, and I only found out about the Season sets because my friend told me about them
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Re: What reignited your interest in the series?
I would say the Dragon Boxes for being awesome, but that wasn't what re-ignited my interest.
My real answer would be playing the Tenkaichi series, and ending with Tenkaichi 3. It is possibly the best Dragon Ball simulator out there, with the massive amount of fighters and a lot of attacks that stay true to the show. The inclusion of the Japanese voice actors helps, as well! Too bad the music got axed.
I think BT3 is the only Dragon Ball game I still play to this day. Sure, the other games are good, and I had a lot of fun with them. But Tenkaichi 3 just has a more lasting appeal to me.

Next quest: Buy the Super: Broly and Super Hero Blurays, also Daima whenever that releases in the states. Also the Super Manga!

Going to Spain in 1997. It was the bridge between Z and GT and its popularity was at an all time high. Then I came back to the US and watched it early on Saturday mornings and the fandom took off sky high when DBZ aired on Toonami in 1998.

Dragon Ball Kai and the Dragon Boxes. They're why I signed up here to begin with.
Before that, I had lost most of my interest in the franchise, outside of some of the music I kept on my hard drive.

Re: What reignited your interest in the series?
Budokai Tenkaichi 2. My parents gave it to me as a "We didn't know what else to get you" Christmas gift along with my Wii in 2007. I ended up having so much fun with it, I had to go back and watch the few DVDs I still owned. That winter I picked up another Dragon Ball GT boxset, and then found out the season sets would be coming out soon. Even then, I initially only planned on getting the Saiyan arc. But the last few episodes on the set whet my appetite for the Namek arc, and I ended up buying the first three. Then the Dragon Ball season sets were announced. Then the Dragon Boxes were announced, etc, etc.
It ended up being a pretty good time to be a fan again. I think the fact that the entire series was finally becoming reasonably available right as my interest was picking up again just spurred me further.

It is pretty interesting that the Season Sets- as the beginning of Funi's Dragon Ball Box Sets- ultimately started the Dragonball mini-revival, followed up by Kai.Cipher wrote:Budokai Tenkaichi 2. Also, Tenkaichi 2 Wii FTEW. Best third party Wii launch game, still pop it in from time to time.

Re: What reignited your interest in the series?
I've never hit a lull since I was introduced to the series, going on two decades now. There have been many times when something else took briefly took the #1 spot, but Dragon Ball always retakes it.
Re: What reignited your interest in the series?
In the U.S. maybe. And why not? Sure, the video is terrible, but at the time, as someone with only a passing interest in the series who finally wanted to own a large chunk of episodes, they were great. At least they weren't so bad enough I felt the need to boycott for something better.BlazingFiddlesticks wrote:It is pretty interesting that the Season Sets- as the beginning of Funi's Dragon Ball Box Sets- ultimately started the Dragonball mini-revival, followed up by Kai.
You can look into all the implications of that, but that's what happened. We got lucky and FUNimation realized that people were paying for large chunks of episodes, not for over-done remastering and cropped widescreen. But it could have gone much differently.
Re: What reignited your interest in the series?
I remember seeing the commercial for the release of FUNI's first remastered box set on TV, afterwards I watched a DBZ AMV on Youtube (I believe it was "Traces of Insanity"), and from there I was hooked to the series again.

Re: What reignited your interest in the series?
As much as I hate to say it, the Season Sets were what got me interested in Dragon Ball Z. I didn't really understand how terrible the video quality was at the time (having only seen FUNimation's video on the process (what was that called again?))
Anyways, I guess I began with Season 4 or 5 and went through 8. Somewhere in that span of time, I found Daizenshuu EX and then its podcast, as well. They are what keep me interested in the show(s). And the rest is history
