Dragonbox Question
So today I took the plunge and started collecting the Dragonbox. The problem is that I just received vol 1 and it was a little ruffed up, the side is wrinkled and the corners are a little crushed. I got it from amazon, should I return it, these days I am not to picky but this is more or less the final time I will buy DBZ so if the return process is easy why not get a better one. I have yet to open it, what do you guys think.

Re: Dragonbox Question
Not really. As long as the disks are in good shape I say it's fine.

Re: Dragonbox Question
My Dragon Box 1's packaging looked like it went through a twister, itself.
The discs work great, though, and the Dragonbook is readable. I wouldn't panic about it.

Re: Dragonbox Question
I got the first four boxes from Amazon (Amazon itself, not independent sellers) & they came in perfect condition. It doesn't hurt to ask for an exchange. Amazon gives you 30 days to return your item and they even send you a replacement before the return period is up. So, if the box damage annoys you too much, ask for an exchange, wait for the new box to be delivered, compare boxes, and return the one that looks worse. There's no guarantee that if you exchange the box the new one will look any better. If the damage isn't noticeable, I say keep it. So long as the discs/book are fine, and the box is in like-new condition, I'd keep it.

Re: Dragonbox Question
It depends on your purpose for buying them. If it's just for your own personal use, then as long as the discs are good, it doesn't matter. If later on, you might want to resell it as a collector's item (which, by the way, these things may end up being due to the relatively limited quantities and nature of the product, though it's hard to tell at this point), then I'd ask for an exchange.
Re: Dragonbox Question
I want the Dragon Boxes both as my DBZ Archive, and as a show piece, so it's VERY Important to me that they look good as well.
My DBox 1 came in with a SLIGHT ding on one corner, it's barely noticeable unless you're looking for it, but I notice it.
So, from then on, I stopped ordering the DBoxes online. I go into Fry's Electronics and pick out my DBox each and every time a new one comes out. And yes, I wait for street date, because this is that important to me.

Re: Dragonbox Question
I'd say return it. With Amazon, you've got absolutely nothing to lose, and remember - the Dragon Boxes are a limited run. Once FUNi is done making them, they're done - they won't stay in production like the season sets. Get it new and pristine while you still can.

Re: Dragonbox Question
Heh, picky folks, huh? Well, I guess it's to be expected. Kinda explains why a Dbox 2 on eBay that's described as having a few small rips doesn't have any bids yet... welp, here's to the things I do for a cheaper price!

Re: Dragonbox Question
Thanks guys, I decided to exchange it, because its so easy. I do not mind a little ware and tear, but if it noticeably beat up it can annoy me.

Has it been confirmed that these are a limited run? I agree though, I'd return it just because I like having my items in the best possible condition.

What it sounds like is that the Dragon Box sets have either a finite stock that will be exhausted, or will be dwindled down as interest dives. You can listen in to this week's podcast for a little more speculation, and we will certainly do our best to follow up with FUNimation and get some definitive answers.

Re: Dragonbox Question
I was actually listening to you talk about that on the podcast. What do they mean by limited? Do they mean they produce a certain number and no more or once they stop getting orders then they stop?VegettoEX wrote:RE: FUNimation's Marketing Director Lance Heiskell on episode 55 of ANNCast:SonEric84 wrote:Has it been confirmed that these are a limited run?

Re: Dragonbox Question
Considering that this is the same FUNimation who said the previous sets were "remastered", I wouldn't put it past them that they weren't simply BSing.

Re: Dragonbox Question
Generally in this case, "limited" means that the product will be available only for a limited time. Such was the case for the Matrix of Leadership set for The Transformers by Shout! Factory. They have since introduced a complete series set which collects the previously released season sets but omits any exclusive bonus material present in the Matrix of Leadership edition.Pokewhiz7 wrote:What do they mean by limited? So, I wouldn't be surprised if FUNimation were to re-release the Dragon Box footage in low-cost packaging at some point after all of the sets have been released. I highly doubt that they would simply abandon the masters once this initial run of Dragon Boxes has completed. For all we know, a future printing of the season sets may end up exchanging the cropped footage with the Dragon Box footage.

Thanks. You know, I probably read that at some point and it just ended up slipping my mind. I tend to absorb too much Dragon Ball news and knowledge and at times some of the old stuff gets pushed out by the new.
