The Dead Zone Re-Dub Question

They used it for the entire length of DragonBall, but re-scored all of DBZ & DBGT. We can only theorize, because the people who actually make these decisions either don't answer questions by fans, or would never honestly answer them.

We can only assume that FUNimation made the decision to use new music because they don't feel that their target audience (young children) would think the original Japanese score is "cool" or "hip" enough; it does sound somewhat dated (though age never inherently has anything to do with quality), and that alone might have been a determining factor. My guess on what happened with DB is that they knew from the start it wouldn't be a ratings hit, and so just left it alone with as little effort as possible. DBZ was already a hit with a redone score, and they needed to do any last thing they could possibly think of to guarantee people would at least watch DBGT.
