Who would you choose to make a replacement soundtrack
If Funimation decided to make their own score for Kai and money wasn't an issue which artist would you want them to choose?
My choices
Daft Punk
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4bJEGFF ... ideo_title
Could attract old fans with the electronic music and they do a pretty good job with orchestral music
Hans Zimmer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKL6t4Lg ... ideo_title
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CkETfp2 ... ideo_title
Doesn't sound dated like Kikuchi and well everything this guy makes sounds epic

I've done some music experimenting before, but I think the Track Team (Avatar: The Last Airbender) should do it. That style fits Dragon Ball. I placed The Avatar State music on the Super Saiyan transformation one time and boy it was incredible. o.o

I'd pick Danny Elfman but just for the Boo arc. He could easily make some scary, yet child-like theme for Boo. The Beetlejuice theme always makes me think of when Majin Boo first appears from the smoke and starts showing off his power. Go listen to it, go, I'll wait right here!

Yoko Kanno, she could do a good funky and classical soundtrack, the series needs more funk.

I don't think Daft Punk is Techno..

Sorry I meant electronic music
Re: Who would you choose to make a replacement soundtrack
Serious Answer: Yeah, I think Daft Punk would do an awesome job composing Kai. Hell, they could probably remix Yamamoto's original soundtrack from Kai and make it sound epic!
Silly(?) Answer: Who I would choose to make a replacement soundtrack for Kai? Rush. As weird as could be having a Canadian progressive rock group composing a Japanese anime, some of their instrumental work is freaking awesome! I mean, take a listen to these tracks and tell me they would fit in DragonBall! I dare you!
YYZ
Leave That Thing Alone!
The Main Monkey Business
Where's My Thing?
2112 Overture (I actually added this track onto Goku's SSJ transformation in Kai and it sounded EPIC.)

DBZ bootlegs have the movie 9 cover with the pioneer movie 2 description on the back and the disc actually has a Japanese soap opera in MEPG2.

Re: Who would you choose to make a replacement soundtrack
I was thinking of Bill Conti (all of the "Rocky" movies except the fourth one) the other day. I'm sure the laughs are already on the way for suggesting that, but I would argue that it's because Conti's music is so identifiably "Rocky," that one can't help but think of that franchise when they hear the music. However, if you take that out of the equation, he writes DAMN good music. No, I'm not suggesting that they play "Gonna Fly Now," while Goku is training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, but some of his less-identifiably "Rocky" music is perfectly suited for high-energy battles with huge emotional stakes (like the battles found in Kai). Case-in-point, "Conquest."
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Can someone add black ops music to one of these scenes?
I think my friend would be interested in seeing that.

I actually really enjoyed the music from the Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans "OVA" in Raging Blast 2. Who was that composer again?

The background music for the feature was composed by newcomer Takaki Hiroshi. This follows suit with the original "Official Visual Guides" where the music was composed by Ishikawa Keiju, who had never composed background music for the series up until that point. However, Ishikawa would go on to compose and arrange the second theme song, "We Gotta Power," for the DragonBall Z TV series.

Re: Who would you choose to make a replacement soundtrack
Yoshihisa Hirano, composer of the Death Note animé's BGM.
I've done a few videos with what it'd potentially look like, the BGM-less videos came from Ani-Nation (Kai Clip) and MrDBUltimateHDReborn (Z Clip):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXCWRDtU8qA
And it's not a new composer; but having the Kikuchi score try and match the original Z on some parts, like the SSJ Transformation and the I am the Super Saiyan speech:

Re: Who would you choose to make a replacement soundtrack
I'm wondering when someone is going to add Yamamoto into the English uncut release... specifically the final flash sequence. I'd like to have both BGM's at my disposal. :3
Re: Who would you choose to make a replacement soundtrack
Kohei Tanaka.
I think he could do spectacularly with this series.

Now that I'm thinking about it, Shiro Sagisu (Evangelion) would be a good choice as well. I still think the NGE music is some of the best music I've ever had the privilege of hearing. Not just in an anime, but period.

I still would probably pick Kikuchi.

Just toss in the Faulconer score and we're good.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Anyway, what I would have preferred would be maybe a few new tracks but mostly re-recorded versions of Kikuchi songs with a full orchestra.
