How to professionally contact Spike

Post by Rostir » Wed Jan 18, 2012 8:52 pm

I want to ask them why the boundaries in the stages are so small. Whenever I'm playing one of their Dragon Ball games, whether Tenkaichi, Raging Blast, or UT, I hit the boundaries after a few smash hit combos. Is there a way I can ask them through email, if they can consider enlarging the boundaries or making them larger?

Not sure how to contact them but at this point I don't think it's necessary. From what I hear, they aren't making the next game. Words been floating around here that Ultimate Tenkaichi was there last project and a new team is picking up development. Whether or not they will follow the Spike formula or go a new route is up in the air but I don't think Spike will have any involvement.

They are not going to take ideas from people that don't work for the company anyways.

I thought they actually did take fan ideas into consideration, when making UT?
But of course if it's only 1 guy complaining, then they may not find it relevant..

That's not exactly true.

For Ultimate Tenkaichi they travelled to France and those fans enjoyed the beta UT game.

UT's what it is today because of them. :?

There is also Goku's Corner. The site hosts surveys and a way to send feedback to Spike after a games release. I'm not sure who runs the site but I believe that was the site that let you vote on Ultimate Tenkaichi's title(it was a fan voted title after all). My advice to you, is to wait and see who will be making the next Dragonball game; from there, look to see if they have a site for your region. If they do, you can always send them an email on your concerns about the game. They might not address your idea, but that doesn't mean they aren't listening. Yes, you aren't an employee and your say isn't final but you are the consumer and you are their bread and butter; if enough people feel the same way as you and they are seeing a decline in interest they won't hesitate to try and make something work.

I remember once sending in a e-mail to Square Enix for my ideas for Final Fantasy 12 at the time over 5 years ago and they told me that they don't take ideas that work for the company. I would imagine the same for many other game compaines.

It's been brought up in the forums here a couple of times. Can't remember which thread(read: don't feel like digging through all of them on here) but I think it was in the UT post discussion one. I have nothing to confirm anything but I was under the impression UT was Spike's last game. Also CyberConnect2 would be great, but I have a feeling this development team is going to be someone out of left field.

No, it is not what it is because of them... They interviewed Spike... and tried a demo just before it was finished... Don't put the blame the fans...

Sangofe @ I saw the videos of the beta/demo UT being played by guys and they seemed to have enjoyed a lot, if they have criticized the game and point out the errors we'd probably have something better.

You could not be more wrong... lol Spike has pretty much come out and said that Ultimate Tenkaichi was created via fan input.

Instead of simply adding to a product they already had, ala creating RB3 out of RB2, they had to basically start from scratch in order to try and please their fans for the last game of their contract and increase sales. But because they tried to put a lot of new things in, and practically change everything that was already there, they spread their efforts too thin. Instead of working on a few things and improving them a lot, they added a lot of stuff that sucked; we got the altered combat system everyone wanted (though not what they meant), flight on an overworld map for Story Mode, animated cutscenes, Create-A-Character, better special effects, different graphics, better damage to the area, better battle damage to the characters, boss battles, etc.

All the blame needs to be put on the fans for the monstrosity...

They played the finished product, none of their comments and criticisms, which they did give, would have made any difference for the game. Spike takes all they information and puts it towards the next game.

Maybe if they had implemented meaningful changes in their history with dragonball games, they wouldn't have had to scramble with the last game to put everything in. Since 2005, their games have been essentially the same. I feel sorry for the fanboys who bought all of Spike's lame rehashes every year.

I wouldn't have minded the gameplay if the story mode was truly close to the original.

Asking Spike to do a faithful DBZ game is quite impossible, now if it was Dimps' then maybe there'd be some light of hope.

Take a look at Budokai 1 and Burst Limit, impressive story mode games, did Dimps' ever do a faithful DBZ game from start to finish (Saiyans-Boo)?

Budokai 1 / Burst Limit feel Kai'd (End with Cell's Arc).

BT2, had a very in-depth story mode that covered pretty much everything.

But it got pretty boring having to do EVERY fight.
Since 2005, their games have been essentially the same.
Not true at all. Play BT1 and then play BT3. There is a lot different gameplay wise.

But they listened to the fans too much and put quantity over quality.
It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.

Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

Uhh, I don't know how many times I've said this now, but @Sparky; no there is no confirmation that Spike are not making the next game this year. Whether their contract runs out or not doesn't mean they won't be signed again. And I'm just speculating that their contract may run out, for all we know they may have another year or two. Infact I read somewhere stating how long their contract was.

They aren't officially out or in. Do NOT listen to anything anyone tells you about the next developer being him or her, because none of the current informatino is final. Treevax is the one who sparked the rumour, however cleared it up a few months ago on some Facebook DB site. Which leads me on to the my next point...

@TC; The place to be heard is Facebook. There are 3 main Community managers (whom I know of anyway, there are a couple others too) of Namco Bandai. There is one in particular who takes care of DB, Tony Shoupinou. Add him as a friend, inbox him. He'll read, but whether he replies or not will be down to how relevant he finds your message. For example I wouldn't expect him to reply to someone stating their character fanwish. There'd be no point because it's been suggested millions of times, I'd guess.

I wouldn't recommend joining Goku's Corner, unless you wish to socialise on forums. Chances are you won't really be heard. Neither on the GC facebook page. Individual groups whom add community managers have much higher chance.

Good point, wasn't trying to claim rumor as fact only pointing out that the rumor existed. Also, I didn't even know these facebook pages existed; are you sure they are legit?

Dude, I was trying to get you to come to mine awhile ago lol (it's likely you misunderstood my message..). I'm not sure how you mean "legit", but they are fanpages/groups whom add those community managers, who accept because that's their job. If you mean do they work, then yeah they do. Although don't expect them to take part in much discussion, especially in cases where the group is filled with character whoring, "full" story fanatics who only request the prior. Because, as would seem obvious, they propose nothing new.

But Tony Shoupinou does take part in discussion and acknowledge fans contribution, as I have experience many times...

Ah yeah, it is real and official. All 3, Hayato Nyamco, Charlotte Toci, and Tony Shoupinou are real. Tony posts and updates most of the Naruto info I think. I'll PM.
