Chou Dragonball Z

Post by Mighty Gojira » Fri Jun 24, 2005 9:57 pm

So, there's apparently some sort of new DBZ game that will be hitting the arcades. The interesting news is that ex-Capcom developer Funamizu is working on this. He's known for making a little game known as Street Fighter II.

Here are the pics

We've known about it for a while, but haven't had images. Thank you for that.

Is it just me, or do the colors used here make it look more manga-like? I mean, it even has oma... onme... word sounds!

Here's another new scan

And yeah, they really do look like they're based on Akira Toriyama's style of water coloring.

Koren tower and the city look good. Wonder if that will feature in "Sparking!"?

The coloring seems to be a lot softer than in Budokai 3... Although it could be the scan.

Ya, they're definately trying to make it look more like the manga than the anime. The color and look just seems to have that feel. I'm hoping this eventually sees a console port... I seriously doubt the arcade machine will ever mkae it stateside.

And if they did release the Arcade game stateside, what are the chances that everybody that wants to play it will have a chance?

Slim to none considering the Arcade is an extinct animal in the US. It's truly a sad thing at that.

The only action arcades seem to get are players of DDR and its ripoffs, or tournaments featuring fighting games from the '90's. I hate America -_-

Actually there's a pretty good variety of arcade games on the nearby boardwalks I've been to. I doubt I'd see this there though. (Shame, it looks really fun too)

What's that at the bottom? A virtual-reality game set up like an eye-toy?

The gameplay looks very nice to me, especially in the first pic where Goku seems to divert his Kamehameha past the Ki Blasts.

Perhaps not. But then again, we've seen very few images of the game. As far as I know, only Son Gokuu and Vegeta have been confirmed!

EDIT:
The Magic Box wrote:Banpresto announced there will be at least 12 playable characters in its System 246 arcade fighting game Chou DragonBall Z, the game will support memory card for game saves, and the final version may have as many characters as in the DragonBall Z series for PS2.

Funamuzu reported they were making a PSP game, but didn't say it would be CDBZ. It may be an entirely new fighter!
I also go by "veemonjosh".
