Just wondering . . .
I've heard mention that the Freeza DVDs will be (or perhaps have already been) re-released, and that they allow for continuous playthrough. Often I find myself out of the loop with releases because FUNimation switches dates around quite a bit, so a little clarification would be very kind.
Any truth to this?

Crap . . .
It seems I've jumped the gun on this one. VegettoEX's DVD Guide clearly states that a second edition release is a rumor at best; why didn't I consult the Guide before posting?

No, no... that portion of the guide is out-of-date. At least some (all?) of those Freeza discs have indeed been re-released with a proper treatment (play-through all the way, eye-catches re-inserted, etc.). It was just another case of FUNimation putting something out and telling no-one about it.
There's another thread about it somewhere... do a search and see what comes up ^^;;.

Wha . . . ?
Oh. Huh . . . well, it's good to feel a little less foolish. Thanks! Though I can't say I remember the last time FUNi released anything and didn't shout about it.
That's exciting news for me. Aside from the obvious improvements, is there any way to tell one edition from the other visually? . . . as in, a different box or some other discerning marks, maybe? I wouldn't have even brought this up at all, except the DVDs I have are the imperfect set, and I'm looking to replace them.
Let's see what I turn up in that search . . .
(Li'l Lemmy, very thankful.)

The three that I own, (bought between Oct. 2001 and July 2002) don't so much as send you back to a page, but between eps have a shot of Yamcha with options for what format you want to watch the next episode in.lost in thought wrote:Play-through all the way isn't on the currently available Freeza dvds. Yeah, the majority of them do that. There are however, a couple that are authored differently than the rest (1, or 2 discs, I think) that go back to the average play screen. Either way though, no play-through here, sadly.Super Sonic wrote:The three that I own, (bought between Oct. 2001 and July 2002) don't so much as send you back to a page, but between eps have a shot of Yamcha with options for what format you want to watch the next episode in.

I think the DVD's which include the Japanese audio track are the ones which don't take you back to the main menu, I only have one DVD and when I go on play it just plays all the 3 episodes.
Maybe it is different for the Frieza discs. My DVD is a Tournament saga one.

Of course it would be different, Freeza discs were authored quite some time ago. I don't know where the play-through ability started on DragonBall Z discs, but I do know that the Garlic Jr discs don't have it, so if later discs do (which the new FUNi releases have as well,) then it probably started somewhere between the Androids discs, and the Cell discs.Bejiita wrote:I think the DVD's which include the Japanese audio track are the ones which don't take you back to the main menu, I only have one DVD and when I go on play it just plays all the 3 episodes.

All of the Trunks and Androids discs play through perfectly without stopping as some Freeza discs do (although at some point even the Freeza discs stopped doing that in my collection of them anyway).

Still I appreciate it being pointed out to me, it lets me fix my mistakes that I make. I certainy don't want to be banned, and I do have a desire to type grammatically correct. So I appreciate being called when I flub it like that. Sorry that I seem to make so many errors. >.>
Back on topic, I checked my discs, all of which bought around 2001, and around "Elventh Hour" it seems to play through without stopping to a menu.
