Power Level bugs

Post by ngnikolaos » Tue Aug 30, 2005 3:32 pm

This occured to me while I was speaking about the female Z Fighters.

I think that the power levels in DB do not calibrate at all with the power levels of DBZ.

Consider this:
Goku and Piccolo Jr (at the beginning of DBZ) are power level 416 and 408 right? And Kamesenin is 137 (if I remember correctly, I haven't read the mangas or seen the eps for many years now). Also consider that a fight between two fighters of the same power level is (of course) very evenly matched. The Kuririn vs Piccolo fight in the 23rd Budokai was one-sided (Piccolo dominated the match, except for one-two good hits Kuririn landed).

That brings us to the conclusion that once a fighter uses his true power on a fighter who has half of the first fighter's power level, the second fighter barely punches the first fighter (he loses quite easily). Piccolo had 408, Kuririn had 206 (it is verified in the beginning of DBZ).

Okay, so in the 21st Budokai, Goku must have been about 130 (since he lost to Kamesenin for one tiny second). Afterwards, Goku goes and fights the Red Ribbon army, as well as Tao Pai Pai (where he gets clobbered). Since Goku had a PL of AT LEAST 130, and got clobbered by Tao Pai Pai, Tao must have a PL of at least 260.

Now, Goku goes to train at Karin's, and fights Tao Pai Pai. This time, Goku defeats Tao, although with some difficulty. So, Goku's PL must be about 300. (300 vs 260 makes a good match, but the 300 has a good advantage). Afterwards, Goku trains again for five years, so we assume that AT LEAST his PL goes up to 350. He fights Tien and wins. Afterwards, he meets Piccolo Daimaoh and gets completely clobbered. So, Piccolo must be at least 600~700. Afterwards Piccolo gets young, and stronger, so his PL must go to about 750~800. Goku drinks the sacred-water-junk, and becomes an equal to Piccolo. That means Goku's PL goes about 800 also. He defeats Piccolo, and trains for yet another Budokai (and by Kami Sama). So, his PL must be about 950 now (remember that the higher the PL the higher the numbers go through training, as proven by DBZ.) So at the end of DB, we have a Goku who is about 1000. And that's WITHOUT noting the near-death situations he had, causing him to become even stronger.

So the PLs are completely unbalanced (even in DBZ) and basically, useless and impractical after a while (which is probably why Akira Toriyama discarded them).
"Destiny"... people claim by force what they desire, wreak havoc upon others in order to acquire it... and they call it "destiny".

Oh god, please no more power level discussions. Its completly and utterly pointless to debate them. Not to mention retarded.
