I can't speak for everyone else, especially since I don't have a Blu-ray player yet, but I'd be happy with just HD scans of their raw footage. The colors and clarity are already really nice, and the damage would at least give it a more "authentic" feel. It'd be nice to have the jitter correction too though.

I would get a Blu-Ray player now since DVD's are dieing and will likely be gone in the next couple of years. I'm slowing updating my DVD collection to Blu-Ray given that I do wish I sold my VHS tapes back in 2003 when VHS was almost finish for good.

DVDs will certainly not be gone within a couple of years. It may seem that way with how much the major studios are pushing the format, but the majority of consumers are still perfectly content with DVD. I do agree that a blu-ray player is a good investment, but only if you prioritize the bells and whistles that come with the format.

Of course, if this release is spectacular and no DVD equivalent is released, I can see many fans hopping aboard the HD train just to get a competent mainstream release of DBZ.

How is ANYBODY fully content with DvD ? There's no way people are buying an HDTV just to have a a DVD player running on it, that's just stupid

Well for one, there are us people who cannot AFFORD HDTV's and the larger price of Blu-Ray over DVD's.

Sometimes I feel DVD's are best for animation. Sometimes the picture is so clear on blu rays that you can see the individual cels (this often happens with older animation).

This. That and I'd really like to know where this whole 'EWWW, DVDS SUCK' mentality comes from...was it this bad during the transition from VHS to DVD and I just don't remember it?

Is the price for a Blu-Ray that much different? And can't people understand the simple fact that Blu-Ray is THAT much better? Maybe not for animation, not much difference there, but fir movies the difference is insane

See, that's just it. I see people say that all the time, but as long as the DVD is well made and had a good source material...I really don't see that much difference. I honestly don't. Maybe it's because my eyes aren't the best in the world (I do wear glasses), but I just don't see it.

That's not to say I'm not ever going to switch to Bluray though. I do appreciate the fact that they're apparently a lot harder to scratch. So once I have the spare cash and nothing else I'm wanting to spend it on at the time (or when DVD's really are no more), then I will get a Bluray player. Chances are though, I'll only buy things I don't already have, or Blurays that come with more extras, though - I'll still see no need to pick up Bluray copies of stuff I already have on DVD.

When you live in a country which jacks up prices and selling them off for an absurd amount of money, yes it does make a lot of difference.

I rarely buy DVDs anymore. Even ignoring picture/sound quality, I find the scratch-resistant disc and more practical packaging size to be worth the extra couple of dollars. In Australia, after a few months the majority of movies can be bought for about $13 on Blu-Ray, so my only issue is that I didn't get a player earlier.

Well, I'm glad for the people who couldn't get the Dragon Boxes.

But I've got the DBZ DBoxes, so I don't really care about a Blu-Ray release. I'd rather have a DB Dragon Box announcement.

Wish I knew- too young. It's weird, though, seeing as the transition from VHS to DVD was probably a bigger jump than DVD to Blu. Which doesn't make sense, given the resolution bump of Blus, but unless it's absolutely pristine condition, VHS is awful on newer TVs- anyone criticizing DVDs hasn't watched a VHS tape in too long. Even the simple bump of using an HDMI cable is a big deal, considering VHS tapes have so little material than even if you can get a player to scale them (VHS to DVD converting devices will let you watch VHS over HDMI, if anyone's confused), it does jack.

Going off on a tangent for a moment, what's particularly sad is that from what I've heard recently at least some museums still use VHS for film scan-ins from older film formats, simply because for all it's faults its less fragile than a DVD. I would hope Blus will succeed them in future scans, being more durable and allowing for higher resolutions and all, as well as being a disc. It's a bit of a shocker to think that historical footage you've seen in the past may only be that blurry because of the film-owner's choice of format (and filming scanning being crazy expensive).

DVD or Blu Ray, I really dont care at this point...

i just want to be able to own the show I love in its entirety, unedited, uncropped, and readily available for my viewing pleasure at a decent price.

and i think i can speak for every DBZ fan on here for that

I tend to buy everything on Blu-Ray now these days. I only keep my rare DVD's and the TV shows on DVD because older TV shows shot on video are harder to restore. I remember Shout! saying that they don't plan to put Power Rangers on Blu-Ray anytime soon due to the fact that MMPR was shot on video if I recall correctly. Not to mention I still hold out on my Robocop 20th anniversary DVD and Live Free or Die Hard DVD Uncut because the blu-ray looks like shit and the uncut version of Die Hard 4 is not on Blu-Ray (or at least not yet).

I do plan to get Kai on Blu-Ray one day if I ever find them cheap on sale or used. I don't plan to buy DBZ on Blu-Ray since normal DBZ does not hold up very well for me.

Well, Blu-Ray is good because you can still keep your DVDs and with the added bonus of a slight picture enhancement.

I could have bought Kai on Blu-Ray but I didn't because I have the rest of the series on DVD and I'm obsessive with that kind of thing.
It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.

Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

My money is on them just putting the two parts together and adding the last ... what was it, four? episodes that are available on the PSN. Something tells me this is a cash grab based on what they already have and nothing more.

Though I would, of course, love for there to be a line of blus that got finished.
[quote="Brakus"]For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn".
