Red eyes Super Saiyan

Sounds like the Red eyes Black Dragon...

In Toriyama's early colored scetches SSJ eyes were originally red, just in case you didn't get the title.
In the japanese commercial for Cooler's Revenge they were also red, though it's just barely visible in the last few seconds.

I personally think that design would've looked awesome. It would fit more to the "rage" factor in the original transformation. Then in manga chapter 323 it was just suddenly pure green. Why?
I don't know who got that idea of completely changing the eye color, if it wasn't Toriyama himself. Is there anything like this mentioned in any interviews or other media?

Well....maybe Green/Emerald would have worked once they master SSJ. Or Toriyama did not like how Red looked on SSJ

Having red eyes makes sense when they're angry. But look at that one with Vegetto... kinda weird. It wouldn't work well if they are neutral or have happy eyes.

Maybe Master SSJ could have Green or maybe even Black eyes and un master and SSJ2 and 3 could have Red eyes.

After seeing those screen shots, I really wish they would have kept Akira Toriyama's original concept. It seems more... villainous. I like it.

Definitely, I always felt like Super Saiyan should have looked slightly more sinister. And I'm not a fan of the idea of blonde hair, blue-eyed superior being... though I realize there were probably no malicious connotations in the final colour choice.

The green eyes make Goku look more transcendant, pure, and powerful than the red eyes, which don't bode well with the blonde hair and make him look like a villian!

But the Saiyans are arguably a villainous race, this is a transformation brought on by raw emotion like anger. It's initially mind-altering and appears to trigger some kind of ruthlessness in the user, I definitely wish the transformation had gone down the slightly sinister route a bit more with Goku trying not to rely on it (sort've like Naruto's early Nine-Tails transformations).

I agree the Saiyans are a villianous race, and the transformation was brought on by anger, but IIRC, Goku isn't raging after the transforation- but calmer and seemingly in an 'enlightened' state, which green eyes do a better job of reflecting. Seriously, how can you guys prefer the red? For an evil SSJ maybe, now that would be a better opportunity to use it.
