Hyper Dimension Development Info?
Hyper Dimension Development Info?
I know this is kind of an obscure topic, and a relatively unknown game from this time period doesn't exactly have a lot of documentation on it... but does anyone know anything about the development of Hyper Dimension? The most detailed info I could find is that it was developed by TOSE Software Co. Oddly enough, the same company developed every other game on the SFC. I really like the pixel art in Hyper Dimension, so I was hoping to find out a bit more about the artist behind the game. It's hard to believe the same team who made the sprites in Super Saiya Densetsu created the super detailed art in Hyper Dimension, but it's all the same company. Does anyone know anything about these developers?

TOSE is basically the game development equivalent of a ghostwriter. Here's one of the few articles about this mysterious company: http://www.1up.com/features/gaming-dirty-secret
With that in mind, unless Hyper Dimension has a credits sequence with the full staff listed, you're probably not going to find out who worked on the game without a lot of digging. Given the amount of people that work at TOSE, it wouldn't surprise me if few, or any of Hyper Dimension's team worked on the company's previous Dragon Ball titles.

"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.
Re: Hyper Dimension Development Info?
Remnants of the gameplay seem to be inspired by the Super Butoden series, such as Goku's Dancing Kick move or the "three little blasts" move, or pushing Y and B at the same time to charge your aura, or even the menus...
Also, in Super Butoden 3's unused data (see the thread for it here), there is a move that was apparently planned for characters to deviate little blasts.
Incidentally, those unused moves would end up in the next game named Hyper Dimension.
So, if tiny, there does seem to be a bit of a connection with the Super Butoden series, and in France, it is generally considered as being basically Super Butoden 4, just renamed because there were a lot of changes and improvements that made it earn its own separate name, but the very basis of it seems to be the Super Butoden series.
Also, this concerns only the French release of the game, but it's still development info: we learnt even before the French release that France would not have the story mode, due to the lack of time because they wanted to release the game as soon as possible instead of "wasting time" on translating some story mode.
Therefore, they eliminated the option of the main menu, and likely any data related to the story mode itself (I tried to cheat my way into the invisible option to see if they had left the data in Japanese, or if there was a beginning of translation... and there was just a black screen).
They did left the music in though, and it can be freely listened to in the Options menu. Maybe meant as a consolation prize, it mostly feels like rubbing salt into the wound.
