They really need to. Seriously this is bullshit. You dont have a date quite ready? Fine. Theres no reason to just continually hide it though. I see no problem with just saying "Hey we got this thing! Coming Soon!"

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Well, at least Rojas seemed like he wanted it announced too.
"You think you can defeat me? Using the power of those MOSQUITOS?! I am the legendary WARRIOR!" - Broly (Big Green Dub)
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Don't forget though that he mentioned it to Rojas in a joking manner so its possible his response was also in an exaggerated manner but I imagine he wants to release it just as much as we do.
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
They're taking so long because they want to include the Ocean dub as a 3rd audio track
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Funimation announced they're January releases and unfortunately Kai isn't part of it.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Sounds like Toei's being really stubborn. Anime license fee's are getting more expensive just like the early 2000's. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw an another anime bubble burst. (Though Dragon Ball makes Funimation pretty much burst-proof.)

The wait goes one. Seriously, at this stage I think were gonna see the Ocean Dub of Kai before we see the FUNi dub of Kai.sintzu wrote:Funimation announced they're January releases and unfortunately Kai isn't part of it.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Buu Kai has about 50-ish episodes right? How long would the total production time of something that long take?
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

It has 69 episodes and I'm not entirely sure how long it takes for production time but IMO it should not be taking this long to announce it.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
69 episodes actually. That would be 6 parts if FUNi stick with their typical 11-12 episodes each part thing they do for every show. Release schedule will be probably 6 weeks between each part (going on the previous Z BD release schedule) so about 36 weeks it'll take.ekrolo2 wrote:Buu Kai has about 50-ish episodes right? Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Ugh god. Can't they just release the stupid thing all together? I can't stand another year of buying this stuff. I haven't even watched past the first Blu-ray they released. I watched select episodes, but I'm really not invested in it. I keep telling myself I will, though.
Maybe they'll skip on it since apparently I'm learning that, what seems like, a majority of people didn't even like the Boo arc.
They never did the Jump Special or Episode of Burdock, don't seem like they plan to, and people don't hold it against them. Just acquire Super and save some money.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
What? Where is everyone getting the information that majority of fans didn't like the Buu arc from? Just checking the idmb ratings and the Cell arc had much worse ratings than the Buu arc. Save the world had 1.0 wheras Spirit Bomb triumphant has 8.9.
They won't skip it, they've already started dubbing it.

They've dubbed other things that have still never been released.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:They won't skip it, they've already started dubbing it.
At some point the sunk cost fallacy might come into effect here. Yeah, all this effort has gone into it, but with Super being the ACTUAL new hotness and whatever else gets developed in Japan, will they really have a market to sell the half-assed Kai Buu arc to? Might be more money/time/effort than it's worth.
Not saying that'll 100% be the case, but it wouldn't surprise me either.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
I wouldn't trust those IMDb ratings, they're incredibly stupid. Literally any episode within the Saiyan and Frieza sagas are almost 10/10 and most episodes in the Android saga are rated poorly for some reason. Shit like Goku spending his sweet ass time on Snake Way is not a 10/10. I was always under the impression that the Android saga was a fan favourite but judging by those IMDb ratings it CLEARLY isn't. The only saga that actually represents the majority of fans thoughts are the Buu saga episode ratings.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:What? I do often see fans saying that the Buu saga is their least favourite though. Personally it's my favourite part of the series and I just want the English dub Kai treatment damn it! The Funimation dub for the Saiyan to Android Kai sagas was fucking fantastic and I want that type of dubbing for the Buu saga as well. I am expecting a release of English dub Buu Kai next year.
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
To add to this, it seems like nobody even asks them about Kai whenever there's a convention. The voice actors always get questions about Super, even on their Twitter pages, but I have never seen any kind of excitement for Kai, other than on these forums.VegettoEX wrote: They've dubbed other things that have still never been released.

My theory is that Kai is not generating that much demand because it is different from what people remember watching on Toonami. The iconic (and inaccurate) lines are not there and the Faulconer score they grew up with is not there either. And it's not new story material of course. It seems that only English dub fans who want an accurate dub are looking forward to it. The nostalgic fans who want something similar to the original dub are not interested and fans of the original Japanese version already have their show and are thus not interested either.
Though, I could be wrong. Maybe all the new Nicktoons fans of Kai are demanding more and are just not vocal about it. Either way, I really do hope they release this.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Nobody is asking about Kai because they kept asking about it with a BS run around response until new material came out. I'd like to think they'd release it, but at this point, I'm over it.
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
We might have to wait until it airs on Toonami before getting a home release but hopefully I'm wrong.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
It is very odd FUNi haven't mentioned Buu Kai whatsoever. Especially since we know they have been dubbing it, since last December at the latest.
It's possible that, since the Super announcement, FUNi put Buu Kai on hold, and decided to attempt to license Super at the earliest opportunity, and spend all the available resources they have on producing the highest quality product they can for the domestic fanbase.
Though it could be they have decided to sit on it until Toonami reach the end of the Cell Arc, and if that is the case, then strap yourselves in, as we're in for a long ride.
