Voice Actors Connected?

Post by alakazam^ » Wed Feb 22, 2006 10:27 am

I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this topic, but whatever.

I've noticed that many Dragon Ball Japanese voice actors are chosen to voice the same anime. Of course, it could be just coincidence, but we often seen that certain voice actors are most likely to appear with some group of voice actors, than other. Anyone knows the cause of this? Is this because of a certain genre in anime or just casting wise?

Also, do you have any pair/group of voice actors you would like to see perform in the same anime? (make it so that the pair/group has at least one DB VA). For me, I would like to watch a Masako Nozawa/Aya Hisakawa pair. They are both famous but seem to be so different, I wonder how they'd get along (if they would at all  )

It's probably because the seiyuu are all contracted through the same company.

I'd love to hear Nozowa Masako & Kamiya Akira (City Hunter, Meitantei Conan) doing dialogue, changing the tone of their voices all the time. (Especially Kamiya is brilliant in the shizofrenic role of City Hunter, but Nozowa pulls it off quite well too, not as fast though)

Mayumi Tanaka(Kuririn, Yajirobe) and Akira Kamiya(Ginyu, Garlic Jr.) in an anime together. I agree with Ash that Kamiya really is one of the best in Japan. I also love him as Ryo Saeba. Tanaka is just great all around. She always bring such enthusiasm to the characters. Whether it's Luffy being reckless or Kirimaru(Nintama Rantaro) spotting money.

As for the same actors being in the same series, a lot of times it's the same animation studio. Also as Ash said, they're often signed with the same agency. Plus a lot of the DB seiyuu, have been voice acting many, many years. They're quite esablished names in the business. Masako Nozawa for example, had her first ever role in Tetsuwan Atom(Astroboy). Now that was back in the 60's.
