I have read around in some posts, that there are rumors about Funimation working on a new re-release of the movies in Blu Ray, which may include the DB movies...
Can someone confirm if this came from a valid source?
Thank you!

This is the first time I've heard of this.
It's most likely just a rumor.

I answered this in the other thread, but I'll mention it here for the sake of completion.
We don't really have anything concrete. We have an anecdote in a post made on the Blu-ray.com forums.

Again, it's nothing concrete. As far as I know, this user is just a regular joe, so there's nothing to really add weight to his claims. Seems a strange thing to lie about, at least... but it's the internet, so...

When questioned on the source and whether he could provide evidence to back it up, he posted:The nice thing about he BDs are the movies are in their 16x9 ratio as they are supposed to be.
Unfortunately, the subtitles do blend in to the background at times, so I suggest waiting a little while as our friend Clarine has said the movies are planned to be redone on BD soon.
For those who don't know, Clarine Harp is the director of home video at FUNimation. If there's anyone who may know a thing or two about releases, it's her.Yes I mean Clarine Harp. And no, I don't have a link about her saying that. I am friends with her and she told me this directly when she was playing Cards Against Humanity with us at NDK.

I'd actually like to see a good quality release of the Z movies in 4:3 for once.

Re: Rumors of ultimate Blu Ray version for the movies
If true I'd hope they'd give us the option to buy them individually. Most of the older Dragon Ball films are pretty bad.
Wouldn't mind owning a decent blu-ray of Path to Power, World's Strongest, Tree of Might, Bojack Unbound, and the TV specials (since Funi considers Bardock and Trunks movies). I already own all the movies on DVD, but I wouldn't mind double dipping in a few.

The DB movies 1-4 in HD are 4x3 AR and suffer from the same issues that the "White Brick" release did, so while it's an improvement to watch 'em in high definition it's also a disappointment (crushed blacks) that they're not doing a better job than they could. Screenshots below.

Oh well, I'll still get this on Blu-ray if FUNimation releases it.
