Scanned Back Image Of Movie 12...

Post by Tanooki Kuribo » Wed Mar 01, 2006 9:01 pm

If anyone cares about this kind of stuff, I've scanned the back of the movie 12 cover if anyone would like to see it in better detail rather then that tiny tiny picture on DragonballZ.com...

Image

If your wondering where I got it, FUNimation was giving out the movie 12 DVD cover as a promotion at the NYC Comic Con on Saturday.

Is it me or does Goku lack a lot of detail in the picture? It doesn't even look authentic to me.

No, that's the authentic cover, all right. Goku's just cropped from one frame; thus he's relatively undetailed compared to the art on the front cover.

He is probably undetailed because it's a cel used from the movie (I think), usually the cels used in the anime aren't as detailed as the nicely drawn ones you see used on DVZ covers or CD Cases.

Actually it looks like that Goku picture was redone as a flash type picture, its like all the other DBZ DVD covers (exept the movie covers).

What is that Goku cel from? When he's fighting Paikuhan, moving 400,000 times per frame because of their super-speed? :? :P

Wasn't the Japanese version of movie 12 done in stereo?

I know that movie 13 definitely was. FUNi had better not just label it "Japanese mono".

It lacks detail because it's not that good of a scan.

I thought it was in stereo. I have it recorded straight from the VHS masters, no subs or anything ... sounds stereo to me.

I'd say the statement about it being redrawn seems accurate enough. FUNi's done it before and they've looked rather bad or inaccurate and lack detail.

No Spanish track? No suprise there. :s As for the stereo, I think I remember it being stated in one of the Podcasts that it was in mono. But then again, FUNi's been listing Fullmetal Alchemist DVDs as being in mono for the Japanese audio when it's in stereo. o_O;

There were also a few cockups regarding Kiddy Grade and some other FUNi titles where they were Mono and should have been stereo, though this is probably not the case. It is always possible that the masters they received from Toei (likewise, anyone else in the world too) were in Mono (because as we know, Toei doesn't give a rats about the Japanese version in other countries usually and it's mostly there as a reference), but if anyone has any other versions of the film on DVD or LD (official ones) and can confirm that it is actually stereo (and not just two things of mono), that'd be great.

Excellent. It looks like it'll play on a region 2 DVD player (had a feeling it would). Just need to look into importing a copy.

When? I recall it saying English was 5.1 and Japanese was stereo (though the movie has 5.1 audio! <_<).

That Goku image is from when he is attacked by the little Janembas.
