Why would we need characters like Bulma, who has never fought, over many important characters like every Gohan, and why having Buu saga villains at all if there isn't even SS3 Goku. Why having Majin Vegeta if he can't fight SS2 Goku, and the battle lasted many episodes in the anime. Why even having so many original DB characters if no Kid Goku.
I see you are a huge original DB fan, so why not make a DB-only roster?
I'm not really a DB fan, and I don't know much about it, but here's how it could look like:
1 - Kid Goku
2 - Goku
3 - Grandpa Gohan
4 - Master Roshi
5 - Krillin
6 - Tenshinhan
7 - Yamcha
8 - Chiaotzu
9 - Android 8
10 - Kami
11 - Mr Popo
12 - Kid Chi-Chi
13 - Chi-Chi
14 - Bulma
15 - Ox King
16 - Arale
17 - Tao
18 - General Blue
19 - Pilaf
20 - Akkuman
21 - Bandages the Mummy
22 - Giran
23 - Tambourine
24 - Yajirobe
25 - King Piccolo
26 - Piccolo Jr
A roster like this could work but it should need MANY different outfits options and obviously 2.5D gameplay.
I saw this on another thread and it got me thinking what if Cyber Connect 2 made a Dragon Ball game (the original series not Z) and made it similar to the storm series?
I think it would work Perfectly.
Off Topic: What if Dimps made a naruto game?
I think I said this once before too. A Dragon Ball game based on the original series would work very well if done like the Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm games.
And like the Naruto games they could also have the RPG aspects of the game where you can move around locations and talk to people.
Unfortunately it would never happen because the original DB series alone isn't popular enough to warrant a PS4 game.
The combat would be shallow, the story mode would have many, many QTE's and there would be tons of fanservice.

I still haven’t lived down going, “Who the heck is Tao Pai-pai?” that one time I was talking with Ei’ichiro Oda-kun. But the fact that there are still people reading the series after all this time… All I can say is; “thank you.” Really, that’s all.

And that you also have IMMENSELY skewed and comically backwards priorities in what you think is most important and needed to make a good Dragon Ball story.

Shallow combat but very visually orgasmic and fanservice-y... like the Ultimate Ninja/UNS game series post UNS1.

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

I'm just about done with the concept of reboots and making shows that were products of their time and impactful "new and sexy" and in line with modern tastes and sensibilities. Let stuff stay in their era and give today's kids their own shit to watch.
I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.
