Where did Kaio get Bubbles from?

When we meet Kaio-sama he casually has a monkey with him and it's one of those strange yet unquestioned things that make Dragon Ball what it is, but where did he get Bubbles exactly? Is this based off some sort of legend about a God and his pet monkey on a small planetoid at the end of a long winding road? I mean we all know that Bubbles is based on Michael Jackson's pet monkey also called Bubbles but what made Kaio want to have one? Is there some sort of filler explanation?

Bubbles' entry in Daizenshuu #7's character database says this:

A gentle, mysterious monkey who the single Kaio keeps as a pet in the Heavenly Realm. He's not a dead monkey, but rather one who lives in the afterlife. He is ridiculously fast due to living under the powerful gravity of Planet Kaio, which is 10 times that of Earth. When Cell self-destructed with Goku, he was unfortunately brought down with them, becoming an actual dead monkey.

So the most it really tells us is that he originates from the afterlife, I guess...?

So the afterlife contains various types of Kaio and a monkey, it's by far the most mysterious part of the DB lore...

He doesn't have to originate from Other World. King Kai could have acquired him from Earth or some other planet in the mortal realm that has monkeys.

As far as symbolism or whatever, perhaps he has something to do with the Chinese zodiac?

Well, Hell apparently has native inhabitants in addition to housing dead people (Akkuman/Devilman/whatever is apparently from Hell rather than coming from the Demon Realm like Dabura, if I'm remembering right... and of course there's the filler oni too), so why wouldn't Heaven also? Or maybe even the Kaio planets themselves, considering that we know that North Kaio's at least used to be bigger.

I was just thinking about that Karin explanation actually. Between him, Bubbles, and Gregory if you want to count him, I...guess the afterlife actually has it's own various sets of species beyond just the Kaios? Awful lot of life for an afterlife, heh.

Isn't it possible that the Kaio left his post to find some company? I know in the anime he makes it sound like he could have taught Goku the Shunkan-idou and I don't know about the Japanese translation but in the Viz novels he says "Awfully convenient isn't it?" This line to me also heavily suggests that Kaio has a similar ability as the wording seems like he is talking from experience rather than hazarding a guess as to what it is like. Perhaps that is why they stuck it in the anime because they also got a similar feeling from the line? So I would think it is possible he found Bubbles on a trip away from his planet. I would also assume that is how he got his car too.

Heck, Kaio seems to have attended the party in the JSAT after all.

That's what I said. What I'm saying is given the line in the Viz novel it implies he also has experience with a teleportation technique. Because he says to Goku, at least in the Viz translation of the manga, "Awfully convenient isn't it?" implying that he could do it or a variation of it at least. And then with the anime they may have further expressed this by literally making him say he could have taught Goku that technique.
