Re: My Improved Goku Voice
Hmm...you know, I think you make a very good Vegito, and I think it's interesting that you're trying to take it in a more Nozawa-ish direction. Now, I obviously can't speak for Diandra, and the ultimate decision comes down to her, but there are some concerns I have with the voice as it currently is...
1) The southern accent. I know that Nozawa Goku had that, but part of the reason that worked was because Japanese/Sub fans literally grew up with it. It was something Goku had for his entire life. Dub fans, on the other hand, are used to Goku speaking normally, without anything except maybe a few contractions here and there. In addition, southerners are...pretty unfairly stereotyped as being dumber than northerners. So hearing him with that might be a bit too much of a shock for the people we're probably going to be showing the audio drama to.
2) Part of the other reason the bumpkin accent worked was because Nozawa spoke in a very weird, very off-beat, but also very infectious way; he has this very youthful energy that comes out in both Schemmel and Nozawa's performances. Your performance, as it is now, does not quite have that. IMO, he sounds too much like a grown adult, one with a bit of a southern drawl. For reference, I would look at these scenes at 4:05 and 6:27, and see if you can manage something like those...

In Conclusion: I don't think your idea for Goku is bad, and I really do appreciate your dedication to your craft! And of course, I'm not the one in charge of casting decisions; but I believe there is more work to be done before you really NAIL that Nozawa-ish direction you're going in. Good luck

Re: My Improved Goku Voice
Thanks for the feedback. I wanted to capture Nozawa's take on Goku for a fresh English Goku voice and since her take on Goku is his true character. I'll most likely try that interview scene you suggested when I have the time.Fionordequester wrote:Hmm...you know, I think you make a very good Vegito, and I think it's interesting that you're trying to take it in a more Nozawa-ish direction. How about my SSJ3 voice? Does it also need tweaking?
Again, big thanks for the feedback!

Re: My Improved Goku Voice
Accent is way too heavy, he sounds like a typical redneck stereotype lol
