How long is the Goku Black saga currently?

How long has it been since we've first seen the saga? This kind of feels like longest saga ever in DragonBall.

It started with episode 47, so it's going to be 19 episodes long with the release of episode 66 later today. Probably around 23 to 25 episodes long by the time it finishes.

For comparison, the Saiyan arc, the shortest arc of Part 2 of the manga, had 26 episodes in Kai and 39 in Z. The Goku Black arc isn't even close to being the longest.

imo, Super should have started with the Black arc, and it should have been a fleshed out, linear saga with far more episodes.

Yeah your are correct. When dealing with episodes once you takeway you have to add 1 back one. That's why everyone above was getting 19, they did 66-47 but didn't add 1 back one.

You wanted to write 16 right (DBKai I mean)?

Yes, Black Saga is the longest DBS saga, but still it's one of the shortest sagas in DB.

If people feel like it was long, I think they're possibly just not used to waiting a week for one 20 minute episode for months at a time. Imagine how long some of the Z arcs must have felt? Lasting over a year in some cases. I was spoiled and was able to watch several episodes in a row on a daily basis when I got into Dragon Ball.

In my opinion, that's the perfect length for an arc. Not too long, not too short, just right.

I miss the long, more atmospheric arcs with more build ups like Z lol

In Super everything feels so rushed, even that arc and its great moments, if it lasted twice as long we could have had more stuff explored and explained, eg Trunks really working his way on powering up, whole side moments with alternate timelines to make it clearer and we could have even dwelled into Zamasu's mind more deeply, and long fights, side characters could have had their place too, something could have been going on with Gohan hinting for a return in the future why the hell not so many people want this, and so on

Then of course, there is no need to make it longer if it's just filler, here I mean make it longer to make it better, have things going from point A to B then to C not from A to W directly and figure the rest out for yourself if you can, hoping people would forgive this nonsense by throwing around shallow fan service here and there lol

This arc introduced so many wrong things in his last part I'm starting to get pessimistic for the future of the series lol

That's the right length to me. The big difference is that this saga has only really revolved around Black/Zamasu whereas with some of the other villains like Frieza and Cell from when they were introduced to when they were defeated a lot of things happened in between with other villains like the Ginyu Force and the Androids. There was more filler and not that kind of filler but like all the training scenes and other scenes not revolving around the villain.

This saga was more to the point so 20 episodes was enough. In Dragon Ball Kai there were only 29 episodes between Cell's introduction and his death.
