What moments in Dragon Ball makes you cry?

Post by DBZ-Guy » Sat Sep 16, 2006 6:50 pm

Dragon Ball hater often say "Meh, Dragon Ball is only fighting", that is not true. There are some very sweet and hearthbreaking moments in Dragon Ball wich will make you start crying like a baby. In this topic you can tell people wich moments during DB, DBZ, and DBGT that makes you cry.

Personaly, i have two scenes wich really make me bust out in tears. The first is in DB when Goku first meet Grandpa Gohan, its just a very sweet moment. Espesially since we've seen this kid kicking everyones ass eariler and now he is suddenly crying. The second is when Piccolo sacrifices himself for Gohan. I just love how he gets all these flashbacks with him and Gohan training and then he starts running and just jumps in front of Gohan. The scene where he is lying on the ground with that smile on his face talking to Gohan is so hearthbreaking.
Currently playing: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii), Jump Ultimate Stars (DS).

I haven't actually cried, but there were moments where I felt like crying. The first is when Piccolo saves Gohan from Nappa by sacrificing himself, and the second is when Freeza kills Kuririn.

I also got teary eyed from Vegeta's plea in episode 86. I also almost cried during the entire episode of 237, where Vegeta sacrifices himself and all. There's something about Vegeta.. @_@;

I never cried, but I came close to it at well, pretty much every moment the others have mentioned.

I was a little touched during the scene where Goku comes back for a day from the Otherworld during the Buu arc. I think it was mostly because it was the first time Goten was finally able to meet his father of whom he had heard so many stories about.

Eh, I'm a huge wuss so let's see....I cried like a bitch when Gokuh made his sacrifice to destroy Cell, and the fact that it was kind of futile made it sadder.
I think I may have cried during some moments of the fight against Nappa because everyone was just dropping like flies and there were some very emotional partings like between Tenshinhan and Chaozu and Gohan and Piccolo. Amazingly I was actually pretty depressed when Vegeta sacrificed himself as well, kinda got caught up in the moment, but I didn't cry about it. What did put me on a huge downer though was Gokuh's death in the Trunk's special. That was just too damn depressing a future, like, he was dead, and not just for a while FOREVER! I've wasted many a tear on Gokuh...

Let's see: I cried the last time I watched Piccolo's death in the Saiyan Saga, and I can't remember if I cried the first time or not. Probably not, because I had just gotten into the show then, but I could be wrong... Goku's death during the Cell Games, the first time I watched I cried like a little bitch. ^^; Then, when Trunks is going back in time, there's that shot of Gohan with Goku behind him, and that made me cry, too. Also, Vegeta's death in the Buu Saga made me cry, and even before when he was hugging Trunks.

Then I cried when I watched the ending Sabitsuita MACHINE GUN de ima wo uchi nukou for the first time. It was like, "OH MY GOD! ALL THE GOKUS!" (Um, yeah. He grew up! :( ) And then there was the rest of the cast, and Goku walked out and he was an adult. And I just love the song! I still cry whenever I watch it! (*sigh* Yeah, I don't know.) Finalmente, I cried when I watched the end of GT. I just lost it! :x "WHA? NO MORE DRAGONBALL?! IT CAN'T BE OVER! NO~!" (*sigh* Yeah, there's probably something wrong with me. :( )
What's scarier than a DBZ H-game?

1.When Goku finds Kuririn dead at the Budoukai, I thought that was pretty sad, and a little bit scary...

2.Yamcha's death by Saibaimen--Mostly because of Bulma and Roshi's reactions.

3.Vegeta dies on Namek--This one got me the first time, and still gets me everytime. So sad.

4.Trunks finds Gohan dead in the rain.

5.Goku's sacrifice at the Cell Games--This one really gets me because of the music and the characters, but when Goku stops and says, speaking English, "Goodbye, Gohan", I just can't take it!

6.Goku tells everyone he's staying in the afterlife after Cell-- "Bye Bye!" And then boom, everyone realizes in silence that Son is actually dead and never coming back. The flashbacks really sell this one.

... and many more. As for GT, well, there were a number of times where I think anyone would cry, but I feel used getting so emotional over those scenes. Particularly those ending themes. Sabitsuita..., yeah that's what I'm talking about.

It doesn't happen very often, but there's a moment or two in the series that can really jerk on the heart strings. The first moment that stands out in my mind is when Trunks arrives too late to the scene, to find his life long friend and mentor Gohan, murdered by the artificial humans. In my mind, that's when the series went from fun martial arts cartoon, to something approaching a powerful drama.

Then, there's two big ones from GT of all things. The first is after Pan is rushed to the hospital, and the nurse basically tells Goku Jr. that basically there's nothing they can do to help her. He's so young and alone at that point, sobbing to himself and feeling scared and helpless, you'd have to be heartless to not feel for him.

Then again in the same movie, when Goku Jr. finally makes his wish on the 4-Star ball, he seems so excited at first. Then of course Shen Long doesn't appear, and all of his hopes are shattered, having fought so hard and lost his friend Puck for nothing. That scene could have gone down as most heart-breaking in the series if Goku senior hadn't shown up at the right time to give him a pep talk.

...And no, I was not tearing up whilst writing this. Anything else you hear is a dirty lie.

I forgot that one, but it wasn't because of no more Dragon Ball. It was because the ending was so sad.

I can't say I cried at anytime. But there are many touching moments. I don't feel like going into details, but to list a few of them:

-Piccolo's death at the hands of Nappa
-1st death of Vegeta
-The Bardock special
-Piccolo's death in GT and his final words to Gohan
-The last episode of GT

The ending of GT shook me up. I bawled right there >.>

Then, the scene where Goku sacrifices himself at the Cell Games. And then recently, I watched the ending of the Buu arc in Japanese, and just bawled during the scene where Kid Buu died. I just loved the little montage and the 'Goodbye' with some 'happy' music playing.

I don't know if I ever cried but I felt sorry for the characters in certain times. When Vegeta dies while pouring his guts out to Goku was sad but then I laugh when he comes back to life. Everytime he is about to die or thinks he is , Vegeta stops being an arrogant royal pain in the arse and gets emotional. I also find the scene between Vegeta and Trunks before Vegeta blows himself up in the Buu saga touching as well as in the same saga when Goku meets Goten for the first time. :)

The Cell saga where Goku wakes up from his illness and embraces Chi-Chi was another heartwarming moment (is this in the manga too...I like this scene). And of course when Goku plays "hero" and transports a ticking time bomb Cell off of Earth to save those he loves.... everyone who is a Dragonball fan should fell a little emotional seeing (or reading) that for the first time.

I also found it sad when the gang is beaten by Nappa though I actually think I was cheering for Nappa.... What can I say... I like the bad guys! Still it was hard to see Tienshenhan get his arm severed by Nappa as if his hand where a katana. It was even harder to watch the anime after that when Tien says "You just wait until it grows back!" :x :x :x

The two TV specials... the one with Bardock and the one about Future Trunks was "sad" at times for obvious reasons as well. 8)

Did I cry? Nope I'm a real man.... 8) ........ Got something in my eye.... shut up!

The one moment that always gets to me, no matter how many times I watch it, is when Goku is reunited with his dead grandfather Gohan in Dragon Ball.

I also choked up when...

- Goku had to go back to the afterlife while teaching Goten and Trunks the fusion technique (DBZ)

- Goku died after Piccolo fired the Makankosappo at him and Raditz (DBZ)

- Vegeta speaks his last words to Goku before duying at the hands of Frieza (DBZ)

- Kuririn dies at the hands of #17 (DBGT)

- #17 and #18 kill Gohan (Future Trunks' special)
