Holy fucking shit! You are an AMAZING artist! I can't even believe it. Some of that art I like better than Toriyamas stuff!

Okay, first off, to Cosmic: You're a stupid punkass. Leave Chu be and get off the Internet. You're one of the reasons why I think there should be people administrating the whole Web.

Alright, that's out of my system... *sigh*

Well, I figured I'd put my two cents in here as well. As little as my dA page shows, I do have a bunch of hand-drawn fanart lying around. These just happen to be some of the only things I've bothered scanning recently.

The first one was originally envelope art (of which the recipent I'm sure will be seeing soon :D), so I edited out the addresses in the corners for privacy. That's why the image looks kind of screwy, and I apologize for that.

My Crappy Envelope Art D:

The next one was actually a birthday present for someone on dA. I cropped her name out, too, which means you're only seeing about half the image. I know, I'm a douchebag; I'm sorry. ;__;

A Vegito :3

Neither of these have been submitted onto dA yet for certain reasons. I hope you guys like them, though. ^^;

Opinions, anyone? o.o

I love your art of Vegito! The right arms all out of whack (you messed up on the angle of the elbow, so the forearm's angle also wrong), but other than that, I love your art style! It's so cute, but not too cute! It's really... nice to look at!

Hah, thank you...

Well, I didn't want to send you an envelope with just a plain little check inside, so that's why I doodled all that on there. ^^; Heh, I spent a lot more time drawing Goku on there than I did Piccolo. I guess it showed with all the mess. Sorry about that... I'm glad you like Piccolo so much, though... I don't draw him as much as I should (not good!) but he was easier to sketch out for some reason... >.>

I'm glad you got it so soon. I've heard horror stories about mail often going through the entire country before it gets received. D: The check didn't have a bunch of pencil dents in it, did it? I started drawing on the envelope after I sealed it, so... D:

Though, why was it embarrassing to find it in the mail? o.O;

Oh... wow... *head explodes* DD:

Hmm, well, his arm might be looking that way because of the way I cropped it (I could show you the full version that actually shows his whole arm for comparison if you want), but if you say it's a problem starting from his elbow... hmm... I'll have to take a closer look at that, then. I need to re-study my anatomy a bit, methinks. .__.

In any case, I still don't consider the pic completely finished. Thanks for pointing that out to me so I could fix it. :)

Heh, cute but not too cute. I'm glad you think that... don't want a big-eyed bishie for a fusion, I guess... hahahah... And I'm flattered you think it's good enough to save. Thank you muchly.

Ooh, that Dragon Radar looks cool! I can't wait to see how the Dragonball plushie turns out.

And I think it's fanart. It's in a little-known subcategory called "fancrafts," but it's still fanart. I think it's nifty that people can make Dragonball art without using some kind of canvas. :D

Well, I remember in the last fanart topic, I posted a quick draft of an image I wanted to draw. I started it...but definately not done yet. Especially King Vegeta, Tullece, and Bardock's team.

So, here is the art so far.

And I love everyone's style and contribution. I wish I could draw characters in poses well, but its not that easy for me. :(

Good job everyone!

They're all well-done, but I like the Broly one the best. Hmm. Didn't I see this particular Broly on the Randomness Forums?

You know, it isn't that many people these days who can pull off this sort of color mixture with basic pencil tools. Everyone blends things together with Photoshop now. (We're all so lazy.) Check out the way these yellows run together in Broly's hair in particular.

If you don't have Photoshop, then to hell with it; you don't need it . . . and if you do have it, then kudos for honing your skills the old-fashioned way.

This is interesting. I like the Toriyama style, I really do, but am I ever thrilled when I see someone using their own particular style. Is there a story behind this particular drawing, Chuquita?

Damn you, Mr. Announcer! I need a f*ck*ng tablet, 'cause I'm sucking in seven different directions with just this mouse to draw with.

Hey, check out this first one. Look at how alive everyone is! The important thing here, at least in my own opinion, is that every character is in motion. It reminds me of the show better than those drawings I'll see sometimes where everyone's standing still looking into the "camera". What's also nice is the draw you've put on the characters further away from the front. You have a fine sense of how to draw things that are far away, and an equally fine sense of how to keep them detailed.

Let's see something with Buu-saga characters! The most complicated saga of them all.

People like to focus on the Saiyans, so there's really not a lot of good Tenshinhan art out there. I find it to be extremely rare.

Know what's even rarer, though? Non-Toriyama Tenshinhan. So golly gee, this is fun! What a great way to depict Tenshinhan. I'm speaking of the first example in particular, because it shows off his features-- or rather, your version of them-- very nicely.
KinoFourpaws wrote:The first one was originally envelope art (of which the recipent I'm sure will be seeing soon ), so I edited out the addresses in the corners for privacy. That's why the image looks kind of screwy, and I apologize for that.
Who's the recipient? Is that for some sort of contest, or it's personal?

I hope it's personal. I don't think you can get contest envelopes back, so it'd be nice if this went to someone who'll take care of it. You may never see it again, but I'll bet whoever gets it will like it enough to stick it somewhere safe.

Why is that a crappy hand? And why did you insist on pointing it out? That's a better hand than most, I think. In fact, I think that particular pose for the hand is one of the more difficult ones. You seem to have it down just fine, you know.

Taking images from another source and arranging them in a new way is still art. This might not be a drawing, but it's still fun to look at. Which version of Adobe do you use?
Kristiann wrote:This isn't really fanart, is it? XD
Not fanart, but certainly fanwork. I don't think anyone's gonna make a thing about it.

There's something to be said for something creative that's not your typical art. If you can't draw, then you've certainly found a way to express yourself. How can anyone not like this? If it weren't illegal, I'd buy one of those Dragon Radars off of you.
Saiyan wrote:And I love everyone's style and contribution. I wish I could draw characters in poses well, but its not that easy for me.
It doesn't show, though. It looks as though you more-or-less have an idea of how everyone is supposed to look. Besides, the more you work at it the easier those poses will become.

The bigger issue, I think (especially with a complicated picture like yours), is trying to arrange everyone "just so". There's only so much room on any one piece of paper, and yet you want everyone to have enough personal space . . . and without some degree of planning, that's hard to accomplish. I can't tell you how many times I've started a group picture with a grand vision in mind only to run out of space.

This is a skill, what you have.

. . .

Oh, look. I have some crap, too.

No scanner. No art software. No special effects. Just mouse-drawn crap and an ultra-basic color palette . . . no wonder SSJ2 Chibi Goten is so angry.

For the record, I really can do much better than that. I don't usually aim to make a character look Toriyama-esque, but it's very hard to draw in my own style with this bulky mouse. I must fix my scanner and get Adobe Photoshop downloaded again, and then possibly buy a tablet to go with it all . . .

Again, damn you Mr. Announcer!

This one's drawn much better. Here we have a character from my novel (soon to be published)! He's not a DBZ character, but I've included him here because in this particular instance I decided to have some fun and bend his reality: he's turning Super Saiyan!

(Hmm. I should probably pull up a larger version of that.)

It was personal. I had to send a check to someone for a commission and decided I'd decorate the envelope for her so it'd seem less boring. And I sure hope she likes it enough to keep it someplace safe... I mean, yeah, I scanned it before I sent it off, but still... D:

A-heh, well, I tried doodling the hand at first and it really WAS crappy. I fixed the thing up after I wrote that on there (had to use my hand as reference) and I just didn't erase the message when I was done. And, uhm, I'm a bit of a perfectionist about that kinda stuff, too...

Thanks for that. :)

These actually look really good for mouse drawings. I know it's really tough to draw with a mouse, so I have to give extra kudos to you for managing it so well. I particularly like how you did these without any black lines; it makes the colors pop out so much more and you did a good job drawing the characters without any lineart. The shading's pretty good, and the lighting effects you put on the two of them are cool, too. This is nice work! I'd like to see what you've done by hand when you get your scanner fixed. :D

For comparison, this is the kind of stuff I can do with a mouse:

Der Sulking Veggie :B
He's grim for some reason. D: <--- (This one I doodled on Paint.)
Squeee. x33

And these are just the semi-recent ones. Most of the older stuff is major suckage. I need a tablet, too. o_<

Yeah, just so you know that you do mouse art better...

We love you, Lemmy. You, your fanart, your beautifully long and insightful posts... I'd hug you, but I'm not actually anywhere near you. And we're both men.
