I like to take a sort of fanciful approach that's influenced by the opening to Kai. DB- happens, but Bardock still decides to rebel against Frieza and is trounced. As he dies, he thinks about Kakarrot, not just with the flash-forward to Namek, but also his pod that he made sure would keep his son safe from harm.simtek34 wrote:Oh. Forgot that part of the episode.mute_proxy wrote:They show Kakarrot leaving the planet during the destruction of the planet too.simtek34 wrote: The scene of Burdock facing off against Freeza was in the Manga. There is a month in between when Burdock and Gine send Kakarrot to Earth and when Freeza destroys the planet, so it is plausible that the Special still could happen.

DB Minus, the anime, SSJ4 being equal to or stronger than SSJB, LSSJ not killing the user if used too long. Chronoa exists in main timeline. Multiple LSSJ at a time. Dragon Ball Super: Broly. And Saiyan tails regrow throughout life whenever the need is greatest.

Personally I look at the franchise as having like a totem pole of different continuties. But at the top I'd say the
entire Jaco the Galactic Patrolman manga, the 42 volume long collected Dragon Ball manga, the Yo Son Goku thing, Dragon Ball Super the anime, and now Dragon Ball Super Broly and we'll see how things go on from here.

Re: Your Personal Canon
Also I like the idea of Kale's slimmed down version of LSSJ is good for a gender difference for my personal canon. Though this is a bit iffy.

Re: Your Personal Canon
I give up anymore and just go with the Toriyama approved story. It all goes in wildly different directions now and while I appreciate Xenoverse trying to make it all make sense with time breakers making new timelines, I’d just rather it be simple. So that leaves;
Jaco the Galactic Patrolman
Dr. Slump (manga) (minus the obvious chapters where characters are in different roles)
Dragon Ball (manga)
Dragon Ball Z (manga)
Dragon Ball Super (manga)*
Neko Majin Z (minus chapter 3)
*includes the films DBZ: Resurrection F & DBS: Broly

Re: Your Personal Canon
I wouldn't call it my own personal canon, but it is a preferred viewing order towards the anime continuity, not a big fan anymore of debating canon. I tend to look at the franchise in a more open minded way, different continuities or "realities", but if necessary I will always agree on Toriyama's manga source material being the top canon. I have a viewing order for two different anime continuities, both include original Dragon Ball which may I say, it is worth watching twice for both.
The first continuity involves the DBZ anime, the Bardock and Trunks specials, a handful of the DBZ movies (with the "Yo, Son Goku & Friends" special), along with GT and its Goku Jr. special. The second continuity begins with the "What if?" animated special "Episode of Bardock" (I like to think the time traveling of Bardock and Tapion from Continuity 1 creates this Continuity 2), DBZ Kai, the Super anime, and the new Broly movie. It's a very weird order of continuities, but nonetheless here it is, look at it with an open mind?
Continuity 1:
DBZ Special: "Bardock, The Father of Goku"
Original Dragon Ball: Episodes 1-153
DBZ Movie 1: "Dead Zone"
Dragon Ball Z: Episodes 1-118
DBZ Special: "History of Trunks"
Dragon Ball Z: Episodes 119-124
DBZ Movie 5: "Cooler's Revenge"
Dragon Ball Z: Episodes 125-138
DBZ Movie 7: "Super Android 13" (I like to view this feature within the offscreen timeline the Trunks of Cell's future saved)
Dragon Ball Z: Episodes 139-194
DBZ Movie 9: "Bojack Unbound"
Dragon Ball Z: Episodes 195-288
DBZ Movie 13: "Wrath of the Dragon"
DBZ Special: "Yo, Son Goku & Friends"
DBZ Movie 14: "Battle of Gods"
Dragon Ball Z: Episodes 289-291
Dragon Ball GT: Episodes 1-64
GT Special: "A Hero's Legacy"
Continuity 2:
DBZ Special: "Episode of Bardock"
Original Dragon Ball: Episodes 1-153
Dragon Ball Z Kai: Episodes 1-98
Dragon Ball Z Kai -- The Final Chapters: Episodes 99-165
Dragon Ball Super -- Episodes 1-131
Super Movie: "Broly"

Re: Your Personal Canon
I don't own my personal canon. I was thinking of buying one from ebay, but it's kind of expensive. Lot of my friends have one though. It's a good hobby if you can afford it.

Buying your own personal canon?
Oh and another personal canon piece is that when U7 Sadala was destroyed two groups of Saiyans survived, one fled to Planet Vegeta, the other to another world and colonized it, calling it New Sadala.

Re: Your Personal Canon
There was a half hour special called "Dragon Ball: Yo! The Return of Son-Goku and Friends" released in 2008 that was written by Toriyama. With the exception of that special I'd say prior to Super, if it wasn't in the manga it's absolutely not canon. But with Super and all subsequent material it's a tougher call because they were developed at the same time. But with that said Toriyama seems to work closer with Toyataro on the manga so I'd say it's still more canon than the anime along with the most recent three movies. Of course there's also Jaco: The Galactic Patrolman manga, which is grossly underrated. Definitely give that one a read if you haven't and it is 100% canon.
Re: Your Personal Canon
I guess it does and it doesn't. With Jaco and the Bardock special, it can still work as Goku being sent to Earth on a Mission instead of Goku being sent off by Gine and Bardock since the motivates of Goku coming to Earth wasn't clarified in Jaco.sunsetshimmer wrote:&Apslup wrote: Bardock: The Farther of GokuThose basically contradict each other in every wayApslup wrote:Jaco the Galactic Patrolman

But I guess I need to switch the Bardock special with Dragon Ball Minus since I want to include the Broly movie.
