I just got a membership at that amv website where you put all your AMVs, EX.

2. The probation is also to keep people from pledging, defaulting on their pledge, and then getting a new account to download vids. New members who donate will have this probationary period waived and may download as soon as the donation is received.

Does this mean I can't dl AMV's from the site unless I pledge?

No, that's not quite how it works.

There's three types of video downloads: LOCAL, DIRECT, and INDIRECT. Let's work backwards.

INDIRECT = The link will take you to an outside HTML document (IE - the editor's personal home page) which will have a link to download the video on it. People choose to do this for a variety of reasons, such as getting more hits to their own site. You can download these types of videos immediately.

DIRECT = The link will go directly to the video file that the editor has uploaded to their own personal space. You can download these types of videos immediately.

LOCAL = The video is stored "locally" on the AnimeMusicVideos.org server. This server is funded by donations from members. You cannot download these videos unless you: a) have been a member of AnimeMusicVideos.org for at least two weeks, or if you'd rather, b) donate, you have access to these videos without waiting two weeks.

Eh, not surprising. They run off my friend's laptop/dorm connection in Ohio, so if he's at class, the links are down. Also, he might even be done with school, already .
