I'm surprised they didn't style Yakko to look like Frieza. After all, Yakko was voiced by none other than Ryusei Nakao in the Japanese dub of Animaniacs. There is a clip of "nations of the world" in Japanese on youtube.

Not sure if the writer was aware of that. Most folks when they think of Yakko tend to only think of Mr. Paulsen and outside otaku, many don't keep up with voices in Japanese dubs of American caroons.

It felt more like a nod to Studio Trigger on the whole, but I agree about the quick power-up moment being DB-inspired.

I didn't watch all the new episodes and didn't even watch in order, but from what I saw the Pinky & The Brain sketches felt right. However, the designs of the humans in the Warners' segments were so distractingly out of place aesthetically and there was gross out humor that felt more at home in Ren & Stimpy (I later found out this is because they have someone from that show on staff + someone from Family Guy). I haven't regularly watched Animaniacs since I was a kid, but seeing characters being uncharacteristically mean to each other was a turn off in the same way as that Roshi, Yurin, and Tenshinhan ep in early TOP or that ep where Goku first meets Zamasu and acts really ooc and over the top. Bringing back everyone but the original creator and original writers should've tipped me off. I think if you've never seen Animaniacs you might not notice since Ren & Stimpy is also a type of 90's humor, but if you watched Animaniacs growing up you'll notice it right away. It's like those pictures of food where they photoshop a wildly different food inside it.

I've been watching the reboot, when I first saw this the only time I thought of DBZ was in the powerup scene, the other shit was just Kill La Kill to me
