Re: Selecta Visión Dragon Ball Z Blu-ray
It looks decent enough. Good thing about being a Dragon Box upscale is it will retain a lot of the finer details that were lost because of the dark crushing in Funimation's remasters.
Do you have any info about international non-English broadcasts about the Dragon Ball anime or manga translations/editions? Please message me. Researching for a future book with Dragon Ball scholar Derek Padula

I know it is a dumb question but does this release have the European Spanish dub?

Because the old dubs are censored and thus would cut out at points. But thanks for confirming that all 4 are present!sangofe wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 7:40 amWhy wouldn't it have all 4 Spanish dubs?Cure Dragon 255 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 5:08 am I know it is a dumb question but does this release have the European Spanish dub?

Re: Selecta Visión Dragon Ball Z Blu-ray
How many episodes are there per disc?
Over 9 hours of high-definition (HD) video fit on a 50GB disc (blu ray).
9hrs is 540 minutes at 22 minutes per episodes ratio, they could fit 24 episodes per disc.
DBZ would take 13 discs.
I hope they don't make it 4-6 episodes per disc, oh lord....

Going by their Dragon Ball set, they did around 30 episodes per volume (4discs each) with the six volume set being 399,00 € (which appears to be around 400USD)Saiya6Cit wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 8:59 am How many episodes are there per disc?

Funny enough FUNimation has some Dragon Box footage uncompressed (it's around the android saga) on their Season/30th/steelbook sets and it looks really good (way better than the U.S Dragon Box and even tops the Japanese Dragon Box because the footage has more room to groove. Considering other regions can still release dragon box footage, makes me wonder if the Dragon Box just didn't sell here well (Japanese audio stigma, lack of U.S score, people already fine with OB, saturated market etc.) because I highly doubt FUNimation is the only company not allowed to re-release the Dragon Boxes.
Also, as someone who like the 30th, this does look better to me. I'd be interested in these if I didnt have the Dragon Boxes already however.

It is beyond embarrassing for FUNimation that this upscale looks better than their actual HD scan.

It flows precisely and fluidly from where things left off in the aftermath of the 23rd Budokai and mostly hits the ground running from there without really stopping to look back. You're plopping someone into the middle of a book starting at chapter 195 out of 519 for absolutely no good goddamn reason, with very minimal opportunity to look back at much needed context and character/story growth.

Indeed so, and if this was the footage that was on the 30th set/steelbooks instead of the smeared, oversaturated to hell Level set based versions i'd actually be interested in getting them. Even with having the Dragon Boxes i wouldn't say no to this being released over here or the OG Dragon Ball set for that matter.PremiumSalt wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 3:08 pm It is beyond embarrassing for FUNimation that this upscale looks better than their actual HD scan.
Here the noise filtering process actually appears fairly well done, and not an oily smeared painting mess the way that FUNi's version does.
DB collection related goals as of now:
1.) Find decent priced copy of Dragon Box Z Vol. 4 (Done)
2.) Collect rest of manga
3.) Get rest of Daizenshuu (2-7)

I wish Discotek would get rights for DB-DBGT at least, their release would surely be great, and not limited.SuperSaiyaManZ94 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 3:11 pmIndeed so, and if this was the footage that was on the 30th set/steelbooks instead of the smeared, oversaturated to hell Level set based versions i'd actually be interested in getting them. Selecta Vision also released original Dragon Ball, sadly, it wasnt upscale DBox, but at least it was better than Funimation DVD Blue Boxes, right? viewtopic.php?f=7&t=44115&hilit=selecta

Re: Selecta Visión Dragon Ball Z Blu-ray
I mean, i have the old single discs of GT which are basically Dragon Box style coming from earlier versions of those masters. I'd definitely like a release of OG Dragon Ball here that has both openings, all four closing animations and the NEP's which all home video releases of the series here lack.coola wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 5:55 pmI wish Discotek would get rights for DB-DBGT at least, their release would surely be great, and not limited.SuperSaiyaManZ94 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 3:11 pmIndeed so, and if this was the footage that was on the 30th set/steelbooks instead of the smeared, oversaturated to hell Level set based versions i'd actually be interested in getting them. Re: Selecta Visión Dragon Ball Z Blu-ray
something that caught my attention
in dragon box the car taillight has almost no color
but in the selecta vision upscale the ai somehow give it a red color
making it look closer to how it originally should look
and other thing
the back pockets of pants of the guy
in dragon box they are impossible to notice
but the one from selecta vision have it

Re: Selecta Visión Dragon Ball Z Blu-ray
I will say I do think this looks noticeably better than their OGDB release, but I can't really find any info on if the process was different or not.

Spanish: DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono (48kHz, 16-bit)
Japanese: DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0
Catalan: DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0
Euskera: Dolby Digital 5.1
Galician: Dolby Digital 2.0
Note: Catalan: Catalan and Valencian // Euskera and Galician 2.0 DTS-HD MA
So I think the Z set will be similar

Let's not get hyperbolic here; this release "looks better than the 30A" in the same way getting slapped in the face hurts less than being kicked in the balls.
It's still upscaled ass.

Re: Selecta Visión Dragon Ball Z Blu-ray
I'm certainly not under the illusion that this release will be perfect, or what a Blu-ray version of the show should ideally be. Something more than just a Dragon Box upscale would be preferable. That said, i think it doesn't look nearly as badly smeared and over processed as the 30th anniversary set/steelbooks masters.Vorige Waffe wrote: ↑Thu Sep 23, 2021 11:10 am Let's not get hyperbolic here; this release "looks better than the 30A" in the same way getting slapped in the face hurts less than being kicked in the balls.
