Trunks SSJ or a variation of the future vs. the anime

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Trunks SSJ or a variation of the future vs. the anime

Post by Alkiser » Fri Apr 01, 2022 5:08 pm

Hi, it's nice to be here again after more than half a year. I hope I'll do better as a community member this time. I would like to talk about Future Trunks, in the manga version of Future Trunks, he has already reached the level of Super Saiyan in Gohan's lifetime. What do you think in this version of the future caused Trunks' SSJ level to awaken?

Did Gohan actually do the right thing by knocking Trunks unconscious, since in the manga version of events he already had the legendary transformation and would be more useful in battle because of it. Wouldn't it be easier for Gohan to fight now that, for example, Android 18 wouldn't interfere in his fight with C17 because C17 would have to take care of teenage Trunks?

How would the situation look like if this time Gohan actually flew with Trunks who, according to Toriyama, already possessed the legendary transformation?

Feel free to discuss

We saw in the beginning of the special chapter that Gohan didn’t even need to transform to give SSJ Trunks a lesson, so I think he was fairly inexperienced with the form. He’s probably achieved the form very recently, and would’ve been more of a drag than anything for Gohan against the Androids.

Going with the manga, Gohan wasn’t even sure if he could come back alive himself. On the battlefield, 17 says he never even used half of his power in their last fights, and Gohan is paralyzed by fear. We don’t see the fight, but it definitely was nothing like the show we got in the anime. If Gohan got disposed by 17 alone pretty quickly, then Trunks would be taken out even quickier.

But then the androids did let Trunks walk away when he tried to fight them 3 years later, so maybe he’d survive this too.
