Before you get angry reading this, I know this has been said a hundred times before.
To be fair, I grew up with both the Ocean dub and the Funimation dub. I found the voice changes jarring Z-Day onward, but I was a teen and absolutely loved them back then. I've warched DB in Japanese ever since and only recently got around to watching Goku vs. Jiren dubbed, but found it really disappointing. It honestly surprised me that the portrayal of the main character still feels so off. What a massive disappointment!
Is Dragon Ball still leaning into that Primal Scream Therapy style, and is it still “DEE BEE ZEE”? The main character, Goku’s voice just doesn’t sound right to me. I also can’t help but wonder why there hasn’t been more openness to passing the role on to voices that might better suit the characters at this point. Piccolo sounds like a sober Vegeta and Vegeta just sounds like a drunk at a bar or recording booth. I sincerely wish I could delete the dub off my Blu-Ray. Watching Toonami tips for nostalgia is one thing, but I'm saddened to think that people watch modern Dragon Ball like this.
I can't stand it.

Re: I can't stand it.
I prefer dub over sub, but it's a safe place to vent, I guess. Lol
"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super

I mean, I don't like the dub anymore either, that's why I just don't bother watching it. Was just telling somebody that I was Marked Safe From™ knowing what Funimation went with for Zeno's dub name.

btw I have to tell this to OP. You are awesome. You do you. You dont like dubs? That's great! I defend dubs as very important but anyway to watch DB is valid.
Re: I can't stand it.
Personally my favorite Vegeta moment is when he goes “Mondo cool”. That’s the classic Dragon Ball I know”
