New Hong Kong GT Box Sets

Post by nwoo_2002 » Thu Sep 06, 2007 9:14 am

Just browsing the web trying to find some English based Dragon Box auctions... when I came across this Box Set of GT from Yesasia released not too long ago.

http://global.yesasia.com/en/PrdDept.as ... 004792864/

Now I’m not suggesting they have used Dragon Box footage of course but does anyone have any idea what the quality of these is like?

I'd imagine they're the same as the boxes for DB and DBZ, with not so good quality (too much episodes per disc).

And the HK dub of DBGT was rather bad from what I've seen, so I have no intention of buying them.

I don't know. I kinda liked the way the KameHameHa sounded in Cantonese. It was different, in a good way (in my opinion). But I've only seen a few of the Cantonese episodes though.

I just might pick these up to add to my library. 8)

Oh, I love the Cantonese dub of Dragon Ball and Z, I actually own all of the HK dub of Dragon Ball on DVD.

But they used other voice actors for DBGT, I don't like any of the new voices.

You can always choose the Japanese voices, as said. Too bad there are no English subtitles...

WOW... 16 episodes per disc!? Sure, they're dual-layer, but that is overkill! Now I want to see some screencaps out of morbid curiousity! 0_0

Actually, there are two different Cantonese dubs of DBGT. One was horribly done by Aiko Animation for its initial home video release in Hong Kong and another one masterfully done by HK-TVB for its television broadcast. The TVB dub is the more popular dub amongst Cantonese speaking people and it's this version that is being released on DVD this time around. I believe Aiko has lost their license to the DBGT series.

Speaking of which, I'm currently watching TVB's version of DBZ. I just realized that the voice of Teen Dende is voiced by the same lady who is the Cantonese dub voice of Edward Elric.

Is the TVB dub with the same voices as the DB/Z dub? I've seen only the Aiko version on VCD releases, but that was really, really horrible.

It's actually 8 episodes per disc. Which isn't making things that much better..

Last I checked, it was a completely different list of voice actors.
There is actually a list of the voice actors names for both dubs of DBGT. I'll have to look for the URL for you once I get some time to do so.
