Whatever happened to DBZOA?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Whatever happened to DBZOA?

Post by Super Ghost Kamikaze » Mon Apr 07, 2008 3:52 pm

Hey, I was wondering what happened to DBZOA, mostly because they were hosting Dragonball Uncensored, and I was feeling nostalgic. The site was slowly dying since it switched from the "Dragonball Otaku Alliance" to just the Otaku Alliance.

Anyway, the site seems to have fallen off the face of the universe, and the url redirects to an "Under Construction" picture.

So.

What the fuck?

I'm pretty sure they're gone forever, but you can still stop by via http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.dbzoa.com .

That's how I managed to backlog all their episode scripts.
On hiatus.

That's only the newer DBZU stuff, though. All the material from Psaros old site was just hotlinked to through DBZOA, so you'll need to go internet archive digging for that.

That site makes me nerd rage, I'm not a huge dub fan but some complaints they have make me "WTF".

No problem. I love reading the old comparisons. Wish he had done more of them, but now with the new DVDs I guess we can do it for ourselves. Still, everyone likes a guide.

Plus, we can dig in old editorials and find comedy gold like this:
These people (4Kids Productions) take some risks! Why couldn't they have gotten the rights to Dragon Ball?

(Okay, it wasn't that rididulous a statement back then, when the only thing they had dubbed was Pokemon, which indeed was a great dub.)

Damn, I used to love that site back in the day.

My favorite thing was the video clip where they took the dub dialogue for Gohan's transformation with Unmei no Hi in the background; same with the Dragonball one for Gokou vs. Jackie Jun/Mezase Tenka'Ichi.

I would have liked to have seen more projects like that in the future, so it's a shame they're gone.

I reading through the DBZ movie reviews on Uncensored 2 and this guy seems to take a lot of issue with the lack of swearing in the FUNi scripts. It's kinda unsettling how much attention he's giving to it.

Yeah, Chris Psaros is a guy with a lot of different issues, but his episode comparisons are pretty good. I've been reading the DBZ Movie comparisons, too, actually. Check out his Movie 1 Review of the dub... rips into it really bad.

I always liked killing time reading some of the articles at that site.

The guy that ran the sites complaints, while legitimate were a bit over the top.
Be grateful the filler in Dragon Ball doesn't suck like the 3rd arc of Rurouni Kenshin.

Ah, thank you.

Wow, that website design is....so 1990s. xD

I mean, I knew what it was and I still was kinda surprised actually navigating it that this is what I actually used back when this site was actually being updated. Heh.

But yeah, this is ubernostalgia for me, because I honestly discovered DBZ Uncensored around the same time I discovered DBZ, and it has some of my earliest internet memories. =p

Also, the reviews on DBZ Uncensored 2 are NOT by Chris Psaros.

I simply can't STAND DBZ Uncensored 2. It was poorly-managed, did nothing for me, and the episode comparisons were just...they were very bland to read. Nothing felt "right", and the whole thing really just fell apart. And the site design was made worse. Overall...I just want to forget the page ever EXISTED.

What's that supposed to mean?

He didn't have anything to do with DBZ Uncensored 2. Hell, he was probably embarrassed by it, if he ever actually took the time to read through any of it.

DBZOA... it used to be great, then people just stopped caring and it fell into disuse.
