I bet you the hand thing is Goku somehow physically demonstrating his amazing knowledge of the moon (as taught to him by his grandfather), one-upping the textbook interpretation of his teacher, with Chi-chi looking on in amazement and falling instantly in love, a discourse which will be put into practical effect when battling Piccolo during the eclipse, ultimately allowing him to save the day and get the girl (“lol, foreshadowing!”).

With the latest picture, I think either "all this complicated city life" is giving him a headache, or he's grief-stricken about Grandpa Gohan being killed, and Chi-Chi's trying to comfort him.

And counting on his fingers seems about right.

This movie keeps flip flopping in my brain. It occasionally looks good, then something comes out that makes it look like it's not even dragonball anymore which makes me sad. So currently I am in a state of limbo. Lets hope the final product is more good than bad, but I know some people have already made up there minds about the latter.

Let me guess... he's trying to seduce Chi Chi, but can't say anything smart, and he's thinking "Damn, I'm ridiculous, she must be thinking that I'm an idiot". But he doesn't know that Chi Chi thinks that his akwardness is cute, and she's gonna try to kiss him, before some jock comes in and tries to kick Chatwin's ass for hitting on his girlfriend.

And yes, I wrote the script.

Also, nobody ever said Goku had been in school all his life. For all we know, he HAS been an ignorant, naive country bumpkin up until the time of the movie. Heck, we could be privy to his first time being in a city, period.
