ComingSoon.net is reporting (with no source, so take it with a grain of salt) that Fox has extended the name of the movie to "Dragonball Evolution."

But wouldn't they want people to think it is Dragon Ball Z? Well, kinda. From what they have done with this movie so far, it looks like it is being advertised to more of the Z audience... And more people will see the movie if it is like the "hARDc0r3 DeeBeeZee" that they grew up with.

I'm not sure what to make of this. Hope it's a rumor. They've already been doing a LOT of promotion for the film over in Japan, distinctly calling it DragonBall from the beginning... It makes no sense, nor do I think it's even feasible, to change the name of the film this late into the game.

Worlds like "Evolution", "Revolution", and the like added on the end more or less indicate "This is a new version of the characters". Like Ultimate Marvel rather than Marvel, it's just re-branding for purposes of differentiation.

I would say it's because this new movie is loosely based on Dragon Ball with many major changes. I am GLAD that they changed the name since it is not really Dragon Ball, but merely a re-envisioning.

"Evolution" makes me think of the X-Men Evolution series; what little I remember of it.

Also it makes me think too much of 90's cartoon series where they try to tack on words like "extreme" and "maximum" to make themselves sound "way cool".

I just want to know what's going on with the release dates already. You could call it "The Search for the Super Spheres of Power" for all I care, but please FOX, give us some information on what happened with the trailer.

Actually Dragonball ZERO sounds pretty cool. And it's Gran Turismo, makes GT better
