custom sculpts
While hunting ebay at random I came across somebody who seems to be making custom sculpts of various characters. Tossing this in as an example because it's just so damn good looking, though I found a Piccolo one first.

They've got more stuff in their store from all kinds of series. Pretty damn cool looking.

This reminds me of Oldphan's work.
I really want to try my hand at making some custom stuff, but I really don't know where to start. All I know is clay (of some type) and wire (of some type). That's not much to go on. I went to art school, but it was mostly drawing and graphic stuff, I didn't even have a sculpting class, even though a friend of mine went to the same school a few years later and he had a sculpting class.

That's some amazing sculpting right there, but his face does look kinda wonky, for some reason.
And it's made be realise how cool Pure Buu would have looked with a long head-thingy.

I'm not 100% certain that this is an original. In fact, I don't think it is. I think it may be a recast of another figure which has been repainted. Could be wrong, but there is plenty of recasting stuff out there which is basically ripping off peoples work. That and I don't trust much on ebay any more.
Oldphans stuff IS original.

Well, it's original to any officially produced toys. Somebody independently sculpted this- I can't know if it was the seller, but it was somebody who did a good job on it. Looking at other figures they have in positions that were never in Dragonball toys (like the wounded Pic) says that much to me and I still like how they look.

Sorry Velasa, if my last post was a little brief - did it in a rush (I should never do that). I appreciate you posting stuff and please don't stop. Its just that there is millions of repainted / copied stuff available and just because it wasn't released by Banpresto, Jakks, Irwin, Bandai doesn't mean it wasn't originally official. This below is an example...
