References to Dragon Ball appear in various media worldwide, including song lyrics, visual homages in television series and movies, etc.

Music

Thrice - "T&C" The song "T&C" on Thrice's 1999 debut EP First Impressions begins with a sample of Brian Drummond's Vegeta performance sourced from FUNimation's original 1996-1998 syndication broadcast dub of the Dragon Ball Z television series. Lyrics (penned by lead vocalist Dustin Kensrue) in the song's outro include: "So now what do I have to show? / And what price do I have to pay? / But like a Saiyan I won't grow / Unless I'm battered in the fray". The song was later re-recorded and included, sans Drummond voice sample, as the final track on the band's 2000 full-length album Identity Crisis.

I Hate Myself - "This Isn't the Tenka-Ichi-Budokai" The song "This Isn't the Tenka-Ichi-Budokai" on I Hate Myself's 2000 album Ten Songs consists entirely of the lyrics "And we fought, and we fought hard / You beat me, ripped out my fucking heart / And waiting for death I bleed and bleed and bleed" repeated three times before ending with a "KAMEHAMEHA!"

Soulja Boy - "Goku" Soulja Boy released a stand-alone single entitled "Goku" in July 2010, in which he uses gendered epithets to state that he believes that his appearance resembles Goku.

Jaden Smith - "Goku" Jaden Smith released a stand-alone single entitled "GOKU" in December 2018. In the song's lyrics, Smith laments his declined credit card transactions, that he is in fact "ballin'", and that ayy yeah, ooh ooh ooh ooh, he "feels like Goku" (not to be confused with looking like Goku). In the song's official music video, Smith powers up and shoots ki blasts. Group fitness company Les Mills featured the song in their BODYSTEP™ 116 class release in summer 2019.
