Episode #0084! VegettoEX and Meri discuss all sorts of strange news from the week (another Japanese idol covers the DB TV ending, "Sparking! METEOR" characters, etc.). Julian and Jeff join us for volume six of the Manga Review of Awesomeness. It seems that the story is going somewhere now, but Toriyama still isn't quite sure how he wants the tone and pace of the overall arc to play out. AnimeNEXT is next weekend... we divulge all plans! Referenced sites: Go ahead and grab it. Big thanks to godofchaos for hosting the splendid *eighty-four* episodes, now.

It was a lot of editing work during a very busy weekend, but here you go! I just want to get the episode out, so I'm done typing. See you next week!

Hey, thanks for clearing up that whole mess with the legends soundtrack. I've never heard of "On Demand CD-R R-BAN" before, and hope I never do again. :(

Even though the sound quality is the same, It just dosen't look pretty.

Another great podcast, guys!

I just wanted to mention that, as you suggested, there *were* different levels of censorship in the Viz version of Dr. Brief's porn magazines. The version I own (first printing, larger size) the girl on the right does have bare breasts, with visible nipples. (Her stomach and arms are covered, though.)

Havn't seen the Japanese but that makes it look worse, almost dominatrixy in my opinion. Nice podcast and interestingly enough, Funi kept Buyon's name in the dub.

Doesn't that women on the bottom right look a lot like an older Bulma? I just found that interesting. It's on pg. 118. They have a lot of cool hidden things in this chapter like you guys mentioned. There was even a sign for the Hotel Hilton.

Damn Barnes&Noble for having pretty much everything but Vol. 6 and damn me for not having enough foresight to order it online. Ugh, I still really enjoyed the episode though. Gotta love Julian for what I'm considering his Jack Thompson impression.

Happy Birthday Mike! :P

The manga review was pretty cool. I didn't know there were so many easter eggs in that volume!

The first step in studying should be to be able to spell jeopardy.

:P

Oh, and I hate you all for being able to go to AnimeNext. :'(

Er, yeah... no spelling questions obviously. :( I'm also pretty bad at video game knowledge.

AnimeNEXT sounds like fun, at least the stuff you're putting on. I kinda sorta wish I was going, but the funds are being built up for Otakon.

Ah, this Manga Review of Awesomeness dovetails very nicely with the Dragonball DVDs I got a couple months ago, the first Red Ribbon Army saga. Murasaki and his clone jutsu (as it were), 8-er, and Silver. Completely unrelated (sort of), Excel nicknames her sidekick "Hatchan" as well, though I think it has more to do with her name Hyatt than the number 8. :) It's nice to hear the description after having seen those particular episodes in the anime. It's a huge comprehensive discussion!

The DBZ music CDs are hard to come by if you can't order online. Cons tend not to have as much Japanese music as before. In my experience I've seen a lot more J-Pop and J-Rock CDs for sale, but fewer anime CD soundtracks are for sale anymore. The only cons I see a big selection of anime music would be Otakon and AWA. Perhaps the reason why dubbies don't care about Japanese music is because there's none to buy. The OPs and EDs of lots of current anime are done by a lot of J-Pop/Rock artists, though, and they'd go get the CDs/CD singles from where the themes come from. Of course not all dubbies don't care about Japanese music (you of all people should know that); I refused to buy more Initial D DVDs when the English dub didn't retain the Japanese soundtrack (actually, Super Eurobeat, which originates in Italy, of all places). And of course I bought all the CDs of the hit song collections when I had that windfall not too long ago, and I also got the 2006 1/2 Special CD a month ago from CDJapan. With the possible exception of Beck (and Nana), Meri might have a point with most music from anime these days being not so memorable as it used to be.

I think this podcast basically speaks for itself. Good show! Good luck at AnimeNEXT!

I love when Julian does accents. They're the best. You could have a show that's just Julian talking in different voices for an hour, and I'd tune in for the entire thing.

For some reason, the episode downloads at a very slow rate on iTunes then just stops.

Nice manga review of awesome-ness! And I agree with Jeff that the bits of filler with Goku in the city and all that serves as a good transition. I also suggest going over Toriyama's little journal entries at the beginning of the volumes, since they're sometimes funny and are the only ways I'm aware of (outside of stuff like Daizenshuu) of knowing anything about his life. I know the Piccolo Daimao volumes with his journal entries actually connect somewhat. Just a suggestion :D.

As for anime music, I'm currently in to the Death Note BGM CDs (the third one just came out!). Other than that, though, I'm happy with the handful of Japanese Dragon Ball CDs I've got :).

And Andrew's random little outburst were um... interesting, too.

I quite liked this podcast. But I've noticed how, if someone doesn't instantly know the name of a Red Ribbon Army officer, they seem to automatically think it's Silver. Always found that amusing.

I don't know if this was in the manga or not, but in that scene where Bulma's mother steps on, well, shrunken Bulma, in the background there's a poster of a man who looks quite a bit like Metallic, except without sunglasses. I think I remember seeing a man in the Hasky episodes who looked a lot like Silver, too.

Hey Mike and anyone else who might be interested. Regarding the question a while back about if the Orange Brick of death cover was based on the Over 9000!! video. I asked Lance himself if that's what it was inspired by.

"Aw, nah, it's not. Heh...we're not THAT cool."

There ya go ladies and gents.

Happy Late Birthday! I didn't listen to the podcast until yesterday, so sorry about not wishing happy birthday on your birthday.

I knew I should have gotten on sending you that "Grill Chicken Cake" recipe, but now it's too late! Oh well.

Hmmm, what else. Ah, yes, I squeeled with delight for many reasons this episode. I'll try to contant myself at AnimeNEXT. I will be dressing up as a rather poor Piroko. :D
