Daima de-aging - real reason: seiyu change.

Post by Psajdak » Sat Oct 14, 2023 6:55 pm

Just feel that more than anything else, Daima is really a new dawn for Dragon Ball anime, where classic seiyu like Nozawa, Furukawa, and Horikawa will be saying goodbye, and be replaced by young ones, who will, even when they return to their normal selves, still look noticeably younger than how they were originally.

The show needs to go on, I guess.

Somehow I doubt that's the reason or what's gonna happen

If anything the massive de-aging seems to be almost a joke about how old the cast is now. I would be very surprised if a recast of all the mains was announced

This is possible, Goku didn't talk in the trailer.

It's also possible that they just keep Nozawa for this entire new series.

Goku and Krillin's voice actors never changed even as they grew up, so I have a feeling they'll all have the same voices.

This probably better belongs in the main thread. If everyone posts their takes on Daima in separate threads, this board would get cluttered.

I doubt they would come up with this plot only for a excuse to change voice actors without creating drama, but It would be a smart move if they did that.
A world without Dragon Ball is just meh.

I had not considered that until this post and pethaps a mexican meme involving mario castañeda (adult goku's voice) and Laura Torres (Kid Goku's voice) that I saw yesterday.

I think it is a possibility but it could be a similar strategy as with spongebob newest cartoon series, to attract newer younger audiences and possibly the children of those who watched dragon ball as kids and now they have children themselves. In general animation has became rounder and more minimalist so the look of the new series fits current trends.

I hope that they recast, but it's my suspicion that there won't be any recasts. I just hope that the actors don't strain themselves trying to sound young.
