Doragonboru Zetta?

Doragonboru Zetta?

I was watching DBZ int he original Japanese soundtrack and I noticed somthing in the Head Cha La song. Near the end of the song they give the name of the series as it's katakana title is pronounced. It says "doragonboru zetta" which is surprising because the Spanish name for the letter Z is zeta. Does anyone think this is weird or am I hearing things?*

[begin rant] I realize that the Japanese langauge has been inspired by Portuguese which is probably where the Romaji names were given names from. The common origin of both languages (Spanish and Portuguese) probably explains this. [end rant]

It's just how they say 'Z' I guess. I've heard it in other anime too.

I'm no linguist though, so I can't say anything about language origins.

As far as i know the Z doesn't mean anything. When the later part of the DragonBall story was animated for TV the Z was just added to seperate it from the earlier part.

Actually, it's "Zetto." It comes from the European pronounciation of "Zed." (Which is why anything Japanese primarly with the word "Z" in the title will sound like "Zed" even if the person is speaking in English.) I'm probably getting these facts wrong, but this question has been answered before. So, I'm primarily sure about it.

Yeah, that's correct. In Europe and Canada, the letter "Z" is pronounced "zed", while in the US it's pronounced "zee". "Zetto" is the Japanese approximation of the "zed" pronunciation.

What about the Z Sword/Zeta Sword? Was it called the Zetto sword in the Japanese version (Actually, thinking back to my old fansubs, I think it was)? Then what's the reason for Viz's "Zeta"?

The letter "z" is pronounced "zed" in the rest of the world.

I expect Viz made it "Zeta sword" to make it look cool. (Greek letter and all that)

That's (of course) right.

But(!!!) in Head-Cha-La there is no "Doragonboru Zetto".

I think you mean this /the last) part:

CHA-LA HEAD CHA-LA
